hmm, improved paintjob looks great actually. Wish they would add a separate mask.

Repaint, but it seems they re-sculpted the hairline. The original had a gap and this one doesn't, but it could be Photoshop.

The prototype for the original MMS 79 didn't have the gap either though. You're probably right, they might have photoshopped it. It does look like they could have used a blend or blur tool around there. Then again, they wouldn't have to if they're just using a repainted MMS 79 prototype.

You see this is what you get in my house when you spill paint in the garage

I'm still catching up with this thread but I think I might grab the 2.0, keep the best parts of both original & new, trim the fat and sell off what I don't need. From what I can see so far the new paint is a big improvement over the old dated job of the original; the sculpted mask looks more natural than the removable one on the slicked sculpt. If I end up getting this I can see myself keeping all 4 sculpts because they will all serve their own purpose.

Going to wait to see some in-hand photos, first.. but comparing the v.2 Promo photos, to the v.1 review on Mwctoys, this figure is looking very tempting, the suit tailoring in particular, really seems to have improved since v.1.. it will probably come down to just how good the new paintjob, on the HS is.. I dont mind that the mask is not removable and imho, grubbying it up was a good call.

The 08 figure's protos just hid it better. The new technique is to sculpt the hairline with the head and attach the rest where it's harder to see. Old technique they just plugged it in at the hairline. They did this with DX01 also.

So if the 2.0 is a repaint, does that mean it will have the gap too? Because in the promo photos, the hairline looks very smooth and natural.

I think when you compare it in hand, the v1 would look like crap due to the tailoring and fabric of the outfit. The v1 looks too neat like its a wool suit, while this one have that cotton, wrinkled effect, just like the ones Ledger wore during the robbery scene.

I think Id most likely keep the head, even though I wont be using it. But if it turns out nice in hand, I'll prolly swap it for the interrogation set up laughing head. The old v1 head would look like a bootleg headplay compared to the current HT standard I think.

But see that's what I don't get. The whole point of a repaint is to save money on new sculpting, so why spend money on re-sculpting the hairline. Why not just do the whole head? I don't understand that.

Because all they have to do is get the old mold or whatever they saved and rework it. It's a simple enough job compared to making a whole new sculpt.

Outfit does look better. After all this talk about this figure today, I went and reposed my V1. It is still a great figure. But the outfit is a little hard to futz to get it to look right.

Alright looked at mine, the tailoring is a marginally better... nothing like DX01-DX11 increase however.

Wool? What did you do to it?

I meant if it were to be compared to the 1:1 equivalent, it will resemble wool (less wrinkle as opposed to cotton made suits). Heres the pic comparison to explain it better:

Actual suit, wrinkled, cotton material:

Check out the pants' legs area, it really shows the wrinkle effects fabric.
