Huh. I had this figure and I don't remember the paintjob being that crap. Wow.
Repaint, but it seems they re-sculpted the hairline. The original had a gap and this one doesn't, but it could be Photoshop.
You forgot
Stupid, worthless, no good, go***mn, freeloading son of a *****. ********, big mouth, know-it-all, *******, jerk. You forgot ugly, lazy and disrespectful. Shut up *****. Go fix me a turkey pot pie. No dad, what about you? **** you. No dad, what about you? **** you. Dad, what about you? **** you.

The 08 figure's protos just hid it better. The new technique is to sculpt the hairline with the head and attach the rest where it's harder to see. Old technique they just plugged it in at the hairline. They did this with DX01 also.
I'm still catching up with this thread but I think I might grab the 2.0, keep the best parts of both original & new, trim the fat and sell off what I don't need. From what I can see so far the new paint is a big improvement over the old dated job of the original; the sculpted mask looks more natural than the removable one on the slicked sculpt. If I end up getting this I can see myself keeping all 4 sculpts because they will all serve their own purpose.
It's a repaint and reworking of the hairline. It'll be like DX11's improved hairline.
But see that's what I don't get. The whole point of a repaint is to save money on new sculpting, so why spend money on re-sculpting the hairline. Why not just do the whole head? I don't understand that.
The material and tailoring of this 2.0 looks exactly the same...
Wool? What did you do to it?
