This line of conversation is just getting annoying now. You're a good guy, but in this instance, you have an axe to grind and you're not even trying to hide it. Based on sculpts I have in hand and the experience of many others of so many customs created over the past couple of years alone, I stand by my comments.

This entire rabbit hole was opened up because you said most people wouldn't recognize Harrison Ford in any existing sculpt (quoted below again). I'd say the comment below is the rare exception rather than the rule. Most people would still even recognize the caricature above as Harrison Ford.

I'm willing to chalk it up to exaggeration and the fact that you, personally, don't *like* any of the existing Harrison Ford sculpts. Which is fine. But you're throwing a lot of really talented people under the bus if that quote is to be taken literally.

There is no HF sculpt that "most people" really like. I'm not grinding any axes, I'm just telling the truth. It's a frustrating situation year after year, so yeah, it's annoying.

The conversation began because Hot Toys... yes, Hot Toys... has just delivered its second and for-now final attempt at HF as ANH Solo and it's getting, well... "mixed reviews." Is it "recognizable" as HF? Yeah. Did they nail HF? No. Same can be said for the other sculpts - either that or they only exist as renders, transparent heads or unpainted resin (which yes, is harder to judge than one would think - again, proven by WGP Indy.)

Sorry, when it comes to "Adventurer-Archeologist-tomb-guy headsculpt project #17!" - it's guilty until proven innocent in my book. When we're talking $300+ for a finished head, that's the deal.

I'm a good guy, there's lots of really talented people, we're all annoyed from time to time, but the only thing that's going under the bus year after year is a little head that looks like HF.

Some of these comments make me think there are people in this hobby who just cannot be satisfied and should find something else to collect.

Is it "recognizable" as HF? Yeah.

That's all you needed to say - it contradicts what you wrote earlier. ;) If you meant to say that there has been no "universally liked" HF sculpt then you should have said that, instead of "recognizable as HF." I'll offer up that there's never been any sculpt at any point in time of anyone by anyone that's "universally liked."

Did they nail HF? No.

I can count on my fingers how many sculpts HT have absolutely nailed in their entire history and I'd still have fingers left over. This happens to be one of their better sculpts (doesn't say much), and by far their best SW sculpt (so far you can't even see the other side).

:exactly: I don't remember it being this bad when I first joined The Freaks.:dunno

That's the truth. Remember everyone they're toys... Say it with me TOYS. And for anyone who says it "ought to be perfect for that kind of money" or "I spend my hard earned money on it so it has to be perfect". Don't buy it. Let your money talk... If you like it, buy it. If you don't like it, don't buy it. It really is that simple. Quit blaming HT for not fulfilling your "perfect figure" dreams. Bigger things in life to worry about. This hobby was supposed to be fun.

In 2007, the year you joined Freaks, SSC smuggler Han was $65. HT smuggler Han is $230. Same figure with much better paint apps. A few other things have gotten "bad" in that short eight years.

I think you just negated the entire reason-for-being of SSF.:lol

Not for me man...I still see a ton of great things from SS and HT now and coming;) some of it I don't like but, it's just all kept in perspective about why I love SW collecting.
It is fun. So I don't let the negativity here ruin it for me. :)

No, what I meant is you can follow upcoming releases on the SSC or HT official sites or FB, look at the pictures and then make your own "buy it or don't" decision. All without SSF.

I would argue that negativity is an essential and positive component of forums like this. Because - yeah, "haters" aside - much of the time, it's the truth, and some of the time, maybe it actually effects positive change. HT listened to that "whining" in this case, right? Who knows if this actual thread played a role in their decision to change their sculpt. Or the HT Ben sculpt. Or in the fact SSC has abandoned its separate eyes system (confirmed by a SSC employee within this forum) after the Luke/Han Hoth complaints.

I think level-minded people (or people who have been around awhile) can ID hate-for-hate's sake postings. But by the same token, I resent and will strongly respond to anyone who contends that these forums should be nothing but rainbows and sunshine. I find that every bit as annoying as "haters." Many people here have knowledge and experience - let them complain.

I say let people "blame HT for not fulfilling your "perfect figure" dreams" because maybe HT will listen - as they HAVE in this case, AND with Ben. Or improve things on the next release based on that negativity. Honestly, from my perspective, I thank those who spoke negatively about the Han and Ben sculpts because to me, maybe they improved what I will receive in a few months.

How are you arguing that his PERSONAL OPINION is wrong and your PERSONAL OPINION is right?

I visit this site every couple weeks and keep seeing the same thing -- YOU in here constantly criticizing Hot Toys, but you are posting more than anyone in here! We get it -- you think you know EVERYTHING. You constantly need attention. LOOK AT ME! LISTEN TO ME! :cuckoo:

BTW - nice job connecting a big ugly wire into your C3PO figure! That's what I call an upgrade! Do you hardwire all your TV remotes to the sets as well? :lol

Welcome to the Internet. All we do is argue why other people's opinions are wrong. Maybe you're not paying attention?

Didn't know a new sculpt had turned up. I think the original was slightly better to be honest and I see that view runs contrary to many others here. Well, at least it doesn't have PERS.

I understand that, but for people to keep saying the SAME THING over and over again... when they don't even want the figure. Well, MOVE ON to something else! Why keep hanging around and constantly criticizing something that many people are excited about? What's the point?

True. It's just that some of the complaints get really silly at times.:lol Some people like the HT Han sculpt some people don't. Welcome to collecting and HT figures in particular.

:horse I dont always beat a dead horse... but when i do, i blame everyone else. :horse haha some people just get there rocks off bashing anything and everything on the E-net. got to love the troll keyboard warriors.

Go ahead and actually pay the money, send it to a top painter and pay the $150-250, wait the 3-12 months and send all the PM's back and forth, then... get your final $250-400 head back. Then quote yourself - and it may drive a point home...

That smiling Indy sculpt was a bold move and looked incredible as a render and unpainted. Honestly, I really hope one of the new Indy custom sculpts works, I really do (because I'll get it) - but I'm very, very leery. Solely based on experience.

Why does there need to be a point?

And then there are those of us who pre ordered the Han Solo HT because we LIKED the original iteration...

...and then they go and pull this???

Think about that.
