But then those of us revelling in the disappointment of our fellow collectors wouldn't be happy -- and we're an important constituency! :lol

Can you imagine it anyway? Here's you go everyone, we've released Han Solo and as a bonus you get this other head of someone. It's like buying a toilet and finding it already has a turd in it. ;)

I like it [emoji57]

Though I do agree there is something slightly off on HT Star Wars except this

I see Hot Toys other figures for Avengers, Cat Woman(Anne Hatherway) etc and it's wow! So not sure why the problem for SW.

I think the ones licensed from recent movies usually use 3D scans/casts for their sculpts. The old ones have to be made looking at reference images, so i'ts all up to the sculptor.

I asked my wife this evening, which sculpt she thought looked better - bearing in mind that she could not be less interested in Star Wars or collectibles.

She chose the new sculpt.

#facepalm.

I'm not gonna cancel my pre order but damn if I wasn't close.

Yeah, did the same thing a few hours after the new sculpt was shown and out of three (thoroughly:lol) disinterested parties, all of them chose the new sculpt as looking more like HF.

I don't care for the Taun Taun at all, cant stand the neck seem and they just look like statues.. I love Taun Tauns but not getting one that looks like that.

Probe Droid is the one and only thing that I totally think they nailed it on and I still might get one because it can work anywhere, the Empire launched dozens of them in that one scene.

Snow Trooper has weird eyes/face piece. I just didn't care for them even when they first came out. Not going to get one of these.

Heavy Web gun was way too much money for what it is. It just doesn't scream out to me so decided to pass on that one years ago.

Luke and Han were the most important and while the outfits look good I just cant get past that dead doll stare and regression of paint techniques. The Wampa attack head is the best out of the bunch in my opinion but I have not been able to bring myself to hit the buy button and don't think I will.

I'm the biggest Hoth fan, and I still say I was the first in the world to PO the SSC Han Hoth, but I agree with most of the above. Taun too much like a statue, Probot absolutely love, Snowie everyone raves about but it has quite a number of issues (tilting head down does help with the head issues though) and Han Hoth's hatted face I've tried to love but to no avail, even though the unhatted head and outfit are terrific.

The stormtroopers are also slightly off. Awesome, awesome toys but not 100%.

Yeah, given there's been so many 1/6 troopers over the years, I was a bit underwhelmed with the HT helmet sculpt, though I think I may have found a simple fix to tweak it. For some reason it kinda reminds me of the Don Post stormie mask from the 1970's. The HT helmet is sculpted after the hero helmet, not the far more common/iconic stunt version so maybe that's it.

Probe Droid is truly excellent. The only mod it could really need is the clear acrylic mounting rod. (Although I am waiting to see what Pixelpiper cooks up for its electronics).

I loved the Snowtroopers but found it easy to let them go to make space...because of their issues. Had they been perfect I likely would have kept them, space issues be damned. Wrist armour too bulky with no taper, gloves too bulky, body typically bad, helmet flared inaccurately, questionable goggle sculpt, shroud...many things on that list can be modded away and they look smokin' on display, but issues a-plenty nonetheless. Excellent toy, bad replica.

For general display purposes the helmet inaccuracies are so minor as to be a non-issue, but again, great toy, bad replica. But still in the Top Five Sculpts List, easy...of course this is a helmet everyone seems to screw up. Thing about the HT release is it simply overwhelms with quality and gloss.

Very curious about your tweak, Talibane.

Some of these comments make me think there are people in this hobby who just cannot be satisfied and should find something else to collect.

Thank yoooouu. Exactly what I was thinking. I love the new sculpt. I loved the old sculpt. I don't have the talent personally to sculpt my own so I'll glady accept what these artists put out. I'd say if you don't like a sculpt and are never satisfied, you should go get some clay and show us what you've got.

Really hope they don't touch Luke. Looks great as it is

Yeah, I agree. He's the best human Star Wars figure they've shown at this point. Change the hair color but leave the sculpt/portrait alone.

That would be a shame if they tweak Luke and we end up with some goofy looking **** like this Han.

They won't... there was a big negative reaction to the Han proto sculpt but with the Luke sculpt everything was (deservedly IMO) sunshine and daisies, for the most part.

This is good? Lol, I purchased this just to see in hand ensuring I'm not seeing something different from others. I can't even proceed with Han Solo.

This is a figure, not Ken doll

I meant the Hot Toys Luke :dunno

Take a look at the updated posts to the first link I sent, the one for Inigo's Indy...

Inigou might be doing a Han too. :yess:

It's actually a better likeness than the non-BD HT Luke (I swapped them for my Luke Bespin,) even if the skintone is a little too dark and not quite as finely graded apps.:dunno

Call me Caitlyn.

Lol, I hate when people bring that pic up. Figure looks nothing like that in-hand. Bespin Luke is an interesting figure in that respect. I don't think there's a modern figure that photographs worse. DX10 w/o sunglasses comes close.

Exactly where I'm at now. I really like the prototype and was looking forward to getting that version of Han. I think Hot Toys made a decent looking Ford and a great looking Solo in the proto. The new sculpt is a decent looking Ford and a poor looking Solo, and I'm not happy.

I already paid $240 in reward points and $174 in actual cash for the Han and Chewie shown in the prototypes and will have to pay another $63 or forfeit the $48 NRD and my $240 in reward points if I cancel now. So for some of us that are unhappy with the new sculpt, we just can't simply cancel our orders.

I'd have to believe that SSC is willing to refund NRDs when the product changes so significantly like it has. They should refund the Rewards Points as well.

I mean, you ordered one thing, and they're delivering another. This isn't a simple matter of "oh, the paint changed slightly" or they resculpted the hair. It's a brand new sculpt, JC Hong said so himself.

The specific point is - the reason it's important to post it (other than that it actually does look like Caitlyn Jenner)- is that people post a truly awful pic like the one of the SSC Luke above, then set about mocking something that's actually pretty great.

And no, the non-BD HT does not look like that in-hand, but it also does not have a great likeness to Hamill (the reason I swapped it for the SSC head on my display Luke Besp) - it is, however, and an ultra-real representation of a human head.

That's a good point about how radically the production figure differs from the prototype, and I bet SSC would refund or transfer the NRD in light of that, but I don't see them refunding the points. They always seem to indicate that it's something that's not even possible with their system, and who knows, maybe it's not. Regardless, though, what HT does is out of their hands, so they really can't make themselves liable for what another company does whether the change is subtle or substantial. Screaming's case is pretty instructive, though. I definitely would not now throw all my points on a prototype of any figure and will reserve them only for production stuff, since I can see that would be pretty frustrating.

Yeah, same reason a lot of people seemed to really like that first Solo sculpt. I was OK with that first sculpt, too, so seems a lot of us are satisfied with representations of the characters rather than the actors, at the end of the day.
