[emoji38] Yeah, I tried to pose him in that pigeon-toed stance that Harrison Ford often does as Indy... but it does look a bit weird.

I used a paper towel roll, very firm, almost the full length of the boot. But the way the boots tweak in back when positioning, it seems to work the cardboard upwards and ultimately away from the area that needs support.

The "foot" inside the boot has an "ankle" portion that helps create this problem. I'd like to work those "boot feet" out of the boot and use regular feet to see if that helps.
Haha :) Chewie on the other hand looks like he's already been. Very relaxed. Wonder if that old adage about the bear in the woods also applies to Wookies ?

I have stated before I don't collect 1/6...I am a 1:1 prop and studio scale ship collector with the occasional statue. But with HT getting the full license, I bit on the Han and Chewie 2-pack, because they are so iconic. Man..what an underwhelming set. The Chewie is OK at best with just a passing resemblance of him with a lot of futzing, but the real dud of the set is Solo, he just looks dead and has a real "doll" look. Needless to say I will be sending them back to SS and getting a refund. Pretty much confirmed the fact I don't like 1/6 figures. I will still spill the beans on upcoming HT products though...no worries ;)

Ouch!

While I agree that Han has a terrible "dead stare" that makes posing a real problem, I did find that he looked a lot more like Ford as Solo then I had expected. I also thought the tailoring on the outfit was amazing... with the other exception being those miserable boots.

I definitely want to replace the boots rather than fight to get them looking kind of OK.

Its hard, because I wanted soooo bad to like them. But the truth always wins out, the likenesses and paint apps are not there, Han's outfit also feels cheap. At the prices HT is charging for these things, they are gonna make a fortune passing off stuff like this. Don't buy into the hype. They missed the mark big time on these guys.

They will likely sell out like the Stormtroopers. And I do believe HT rushed these figures out and there's some blantant evidence of that as you point out.

Surprisingly, I was more impressed with Han than I was with Chewbacca. But of course its all about expectations. I fully expect the next Han Solo to be better of course. And their next Chewie.

But you know more about that then I do. :) Did you ever get a Stormtrooper? If so, how'd you feel about that?

BTW I would have rep'd you for your honest opinion but I have to spread more love around first.

Yeah Han may not hold up as well in super closeup, but on display with the right lighting he still seems to look pretty damn great (and I would probably get him, if not for the fact I just paid for Chewie and 3PO back to back).

^^ Kidding (mostly). Sorry you were disappointed. I'm a 1:1 studio scale person myself, so I get where you're coming from. A forum should not just be for collecting positive opinions (Pixelpiper) either. I think you have to get mentally ready for the idea that 1/6 items have some give and take if you're basically into another form of collecting, and if you're not there, you're not there. No harm, no foul.

My Studio Scale Falcon, and eFX Legend Vader (and maybe the Studio Scale TOS USS Enterprise and Enterprise - A, oh, and my Icons W-Wing and TIE; ok I'm just bragging now) are the jewels of my collection, but generally speaking, HT is the best at what they do in terms of mass produced product, and there are a LOT of jems. I'd keep a look out for the great ones if I were you, but if 1/6 is not for you, best you realize this now and spend your funds on stuff that really speaks to you.

Cheers!

Well, oh ___!:lol

Just as well I didn't buy these and have them currently enroute. Oh, wait a minute, I did and I do...:rotfl

We don't get too many of these from people who actually paid the $500. Courageous man.:clap

It sounds funny... considering we're talking about a $230 figure.

Not funny at all. :(

They really should ALL look like who they're supposed to. But so few figures truly do look exactly like their subject. It does become a subjective "good enough" opinion... since better versions are inevitable.

Well most of us grew up with action figures that only just barely resembled the actors, so it's not surprising we're willing to give a bit more leeway when it comes to likenesses (even on a $230 figure). Obviously it would be nice if every likenesses could be 100%, but for me it's not an automatic dealbreaker if it's not.

As long as there are some other nice details or it does enough to capture the essence of the character (as the Han and Chewie figures clearly do), then that's often enough.

On the SS site, at least the HT description for ANH Han:

"Authentic and detailed likeness of Harrison Ford as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope"

Isn't as bad as the SS description for Hoth Han:

"...the lifelike portrait which perfectly captures actor Harrison Ford in the role that made him a star"

Don't expect anything better from SS. They've already perfected their craft. :lol

Except if there's another much better version being announced in the next 6 months.:lol:gah:
