The GF bought me this guy for Christmas day, I was not expecting it at all! What a fantastic present! I could only afford Chewbacca at the time, and while I really wanted Han, I had to pass him up due to cash flow. Now he's in my collection, I think he might be my favourite. Here's a few pics!

What an awesome gift. :clap She sounds like a keeper.

Finally got around to opening him and overall I think it’s a great figure. The likeness is so-so, and boy is he tan! That’s all my wife kept commenting on, “why is he sooo dark?!?” Apparently, as was revealed in the QMX Captain Reynolds Firefly thread, a lot of the wives feel the same way about HT Han! :lol My wife also pointed out his overly-buffed body. She’s developing a real keen eye at spotting deficiencies!

But the details are amazing. The clothing and tailoring are top notch (except for the boots!). The likeness may not be perfect, but I think the overall presentation works well. I love the stormie belt and I have him wearing that ATM. The Chewie/Han pair look great together. I’m very happy to have both of them in the collection.

Seeing the original Sideshow figure from 2008 next to the HT one is such a revelation. The Sideshow Han figure was the very first high end figure I got, and I remember how incredibly impressed I was with him. Of course as the years have gone by and as the hobby continues to evolve and grow, I see where that figure lacks—the horrible buck body, the jersey shirt, the paint job, etc. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in 7/8 years, but I think the Sideshow sculpt is still great and yes, a better likeness to HF than the HT version is. Unfortunately the paint is thick and primitive and the sculpt lacks the kind of detail we’ve come to expect now.

I’ve been extremely busy lately so I barely have any time to “play” with him or Chewie, but hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in a quick photo shoot soon.

I did have a couple of problems. The holster came unglued from one of the two spots, as well as on the thigh strap. But a couple of dabs of super glue fixed it in no time. However, I can’t get the strap that goes over the gun to latch on to the magnet. It seems that the strap is just the tiniest bit too short to make the connection. Anyone else have that problem?

Great shot. He seems to photograph well, but does seem darker to me with my own eyes.....and the 'buffness' of the body seems accurate.....Ford was well proportioned, but not a bodybuilder. Fig captures that well, imo

Thanks :duff

Yeah he is darker in hand, that's just the lighting. Agree about the body, HT done a great job (some double jointed elbows would have been nice though!)

Very cool! Like the TFA poster!

Aha! Yeah, nice spot!

I continue to think Han came out great...

Me too.

Was JJ paying homage to Han's Hoth outfit in TFA by having him in a parka coat, maybe since it was Han's last ride

Are we still doing spoiler alerts? with as much money as the movie has made at this point I highly doubt anyone on this board hasn't seen it..

The original parka was a better looking coat.

The new one has the look of shiny pvc, and would be at home in Blade Runner. Also, because his gun belt is strapped underneath it, if has a split up the side so he can get to his holster.

The colour, if the Visual Dictionary photo is anything to go by, is definitely an homage to the original. It's an indistinct blue-brown. :lol

I think it was, and no that coat was nothing like the Hoth parka, much thinner and he didn't even have the lower half on, just the coat :lol

Wasn't it odd at Starkiller Base that Han had to wear it, while Rey and Finn never got cold :lol

Awesome picture Paramoremcr88!!

Glad you like him Lu. I agree with you about the clothes and sculpts. These new HT figures are great, and I am so happy that they made them and that I have them, but I wonder how soon it will be that they get surpassed and I come to the point I question the purchase. :lol
At the end of the day it is another advancement in toy history and that's why I'm keeping my core SideShow OT figs. It's good to see the comparison.
I didn't tamper with his holster at all so I didn't have a problem. Any way to reseat the strap to give you more length? Looking forward to seeing your shots of Han and Chewy.

Thanks stickman. I think the holster gun strap is sewn, so I suppose it’s possible to detach and re-attach with a little more slack for the gun.

I agree it’s a little frustrating when you see newer versions of a figure are so much better than the previous version, but that’s part of the hobby! I too like to keep and compare the older figures—it’s really great to see the evolution first hand like that. But like a few people here, I’m planning my exit strategy with the hobby and hoping these figures will be all I will ever need!
