There's no doubting the classic appeal of the 12-back and I've been tempted to go that route, but personally, I can't get away from Jawa Control.

Yeah the gloves are a bit of a let down,the fist and grip pairs work best visually. The others not so great. HT should have went the extra mile and made full sets of gloves all pegged and ready to go,something SS do well. I tried a pair of the old SS ANH vader gloves,they don't look too bad if a little tight fitting.View attachment 225836

Hey thanks! That doesn't look bad at all. And it highlights something to me that I've yet to see anyone mention. Among the many other issues with the weird hot toys gloves is that the completely failed to replicate the puffy quilted look of the ribbed stitching on the gloves. Which is odd seeing as they did such a good job of it on the body suit...

Can't do a Kenner 12-back line-up without a Death Squad Commander but you can go the Large Size Action figure route. Fett is cooler than the DS Commander anyway (though a Sandperson is certainly more iconic than IG-88.)

Otherwise I agree with the sentiment. It's so tempting as a collector to either A. Be a completist or B. Just buy every "cool" character you like but then you end up with a display that looks like this:

And yeah, it's awesome to have all that but you can almost play "Where's Waldo" hunting for the A-listers in that group.

It just can't compare to looking at a that original all-star line-up and no one else.

Actually I have more like 118 or so because I have all the odd variants and the sets (Band, Dianoga, etc)...

I have no rhyme or reason to my Hot Toy collecting. Kylo Ren was actually my first commitment. Then I got a OT Storm Trooper from the LCS. Then I talked my wife into letting me get Vader (most excited for) as my Xmas present. Then I preordered Captain Phasma, then traded a Batman statue to the LCS for Obi-Wan. I kinda want Leia but have no desire for Han, Chewie, or Luke. I'm holding out for ROTJ Luke. I want Leia as ANH version is the most iconic looking. I want the Emporer whenever that gets made. Then, if the movie resonates with me like I think it will, I will probably want to get most of the TFA line minus all the Stormtrooper variants.

Well I certainly wouldn't fault anyone for doing that, especially with regard to the vintage Kenners. But getting 79 1/6 scale figures is less than ideal IMO. I've seen collections where there's an entire wall of figures, multiple shelves, etc., and I never go, "Wow, STAR WARS!" I always just say, "wow that's a crap ton of dolls."

Mine arrived today, same issues with the breathing and voice and the saber arm is a little loose, As for the gloves well i got them to look ok in my eyes and i have to say i really do love the figure

Is that Supes known as too tall? Not familiar with it.

I believe HT MOS Supes is about 13 inches high so that would make the character close to 6-6 in the movie, which I'm not buying. Though some would try to have you believe he's supposed to be that tall.

The MOS figure is oversized. That's never really bothered me though.

I wonder if they'll just reuse the body for the next Superman or make him more in scale.

Which one is which here?

Obviously, the HT is in the middle. I'm assuming the Hurricane Vader is on the right, those look like leather gloves. But the one on the left looks like SSC's ANH Vader, but you mention the SSC Deluxe, so I'm a bit confused.

The one on the left is the SS deluxe with lowerd helmet and the hasbro ROTS chest box. One on the right is not a hurricane but my own custom using kaiyodo parts which i have to say are still more accurate than HT.

That'd be one way to collect these and have some sort of limit. Though it'd inevitably be hard to stick to.

Yeah, it is tempting and would put a cap on things. I'm sticking to the line up I envisaged a while back though. Han and Chewie are ordered, after them is Luke and Leia and that will be a wrap. After I sell off Bespin Luke my line up will be:

Tama Threepio
Sideshow Artoo
Sideshow/custom Old Ben
Hurricane Vader
Medicom Yoda
HT ANH Han
HT Chewie
HT Luke
HT Leia

The only glaring omission is a Stormtrooper. I just ain't paying a lot of money for it. Once in a while a Marmit Stormy pops up on ebay and sells reasonably cheap. I may nab one up then.

C3PO is not happening that soon. He was pushed back to January I think. Seems a little early for Tatooine Luke and Vader too if you're in the US. I got a notice that the Sandtrooper would be shipping December 10th and he was released after Tatooine Luke, but no word on Luke yet. So not sure what to make of that.
