Finished the helmet. Now all I have to do is paint the chest box blue instead of green and touch up on the shoulder armor.

Ok, finally cracked this nut. Was it worth it? I say, 'yes!!!' My finger says, 'No.' And in case some of you wondered whether I was joking, proof! LOL

so, what would happen if you painted the inside of the lens white? I was think that would be the ideal way to do the lens mod?

And the best part - the helmet and mask hold together quite well without regluing

holy crap, matt... that looks pretty nasty!! but Vader looks great... so... win??!

lol, yup. I shall proudly display his 'more pronounced' lens color in all their glory

Yes, it was sitting too low. I have the dome set to where I can adjust it if need be. It is not permanently attached, it sits in putty.

Here is a picture in opposite light to show how the lenses look. Very good in my opinion, not too much amber.

Thanks again Matrix. :)

Matt, sorry about your injury. I was using an exacto knife myself when I took the helmet apart. You have to put quite a bit of downward force with the knife to get the helmet to open. I could see how this could happen. I've cut my hand before doing this sort of thing, so I was very cautious this time. I'm glad it wasn't too serious. Still sucks though.

Thanks, appreciate it, but hey, my finger is like a proud battle scar - got an awesome ANH vader to back it up now!

Jeez Matt, did you try to stick the blade in between the mask parts and it slipped :panic:

Yup! lesson learned: 4 hours sleep and a sharp cutting tool = bad finger

WOW. I hope your finger heals completely. We've all been close to that big slip with the scalpel or the moment where the plastic suddenly gives way.:panic:

last october, I did one wound similar to that to myself.

But in my case it was worthless.... I did that opening a box of coffee... I had also very few hours of sleep on me, and was working at home... less glamourous than modding an ANH Vader, for sure.

get ready for a long process of healing, my skin is still very sensitive, 4 months later!
