Yeah, it does look like a separate piece the way it's painted but I don't think it's a separate piece. Doesn't show up in every angle but it is a little distracting.

Bottom line......how do you feel about it? Even from the full body shot it is noticeable.

It doesn't take away from the over all awesomeness of this figure and is easy to look past.

I would of course love it of the light was brighter but i know there is a limit to lights that size.
Another thing was the saber handles having some very slight warping...which is odd given it's a harder plastic.

The problem with hot toys' Obi wan is the apparent obscuring of the eyelid, giving him a hooded eyelid look typical of Asian features which is why many folks say he looks Asian. The specific photo likely used as reference for this sculpt has a high degree of contrast and the eyelid is practically hidden.

The sideshow version shows the eyelid well toward the bridge of the nose and that is the big distinction...other things like the hair combed a certain way or heard being more or less wavy are incidental compared the the eyelid....

That's the big difference in the two photos from the same photo shoot posted earlier in the thread --of Alec Guinness

i really like this. Even with the light-up saber, ( which i was opposed to originally). it was well executed, AND comes with a separate one, that doesn't light-up. good job Hot toys... perhaps i'll start collecting again in a few years.

These just appeared on my Facebook feed.

What's everyone's thoughts on the inner robe? I like it but I can't decide if they're worth picking up or if they're even more/less accurate than the old SSC. Something about the HT version reminds me of the PT garb. The outer robe is bought for sure. I need one.

I think the the HT inner robe has advantages and disadvantages. The biggest drawback seems to be that the thin material is slightly see through, but at the same time a thinner material is able to achieve more natural wrinkles and creasing of clothing closer to 1/6 scale than the SSC version. I think the texture of the HT inner robe seems to be an "interpretation" more so than a "translation" of the actual texture of the fabric from the movie costume into a 1/6 format. So, the texture is debate when it comes to how well we may think this simulates the actual texture accuracy. I haven't decided if I am picking this up yet, leaning that way, but obviously my take may change if looking at in hand.

I would like to give the figure some display time without the outer robe, posed with Luke as if giving Luke his lightsaber. So I am hoping the inner robe looks a lot better in person. (of course I would like it if Luke's lightsaber was ANH accurate too for this set up but right now the prototype shows an ESB version)

Hopefully these come out bigger. It's kinda funny, none of these pictures look like Richard Chamberlain to me. It might look a little less like Alec Guiness to me as well. Weird how that works.

I don't think that it's a certainty that the produced bootleg sculpts will turn out any worse than these pictures, it depends. Some do some don't.

At first I wondered if the bootlegs were factory rejects, particularly as there seem to be so many different ones available (i.e. Headplay?). Presumably Hot Toys know about them - and what are they intending to do about it if anything? Seems like it'll be a real pain for us collectors, not knowing if a 'used' figure is in fact comprised of bootleg parts.
