1/6 Hot Toys - MMS 283 - Star Wars Episode IV: 1/6th scale Obi-Wan Kenobi

They look almost lifelike. I never collected the older versions as they didn't look real enough. Now, I want them all!

Compared to the originals, very much so. HT is a tough act to beat.

Obi-Wan just arrived.

Thankfully the sculpt does look better than I've seen in photos.

I've also spotted its best angle: looking up from below cancels out the hooded eyes and opens them up. Placing him slightly above eye level transforms his face and I see much more of Alec Guinness.

The only real issue is the thin material used for the inner robes. It lacks weight and coarseness, though I always planned to cover most of them up with the cloak.

As far as QC goes, one of the straps holding the pouch to the belt has unglued, but a drop of superglue should fix that.

If I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that there was a 1/6 land speeder coming, I would pull the trigger on this.

The in-hand photos look good to me, issues notwithstanding.

I got Obi-Wan last werk, but hadn't had a chance to open him up and inspect him until yesterday.

He is a great figure and a MAJOR upgrade from the previous release. it should be, being 7 years later and at over twice the cost. As others have said, we have come a long way.

I wrapped paper around his body to give him more of a paunch. Not that you can really tell from these photos.

The sculpt is good, but, as I suspected, not camera friendly when looking for Alec.

I think of it like you saved me money in the long run, especially as I picked up the exclusive Han and Chewie set from BBTS for retail.

Anyone else on the fence about it should just do like me and pick them up. You can always sell them later if you change your mind.

Yea, though I have settled on the HT one I am actually glad some would still prefer the SS one as I plan on putting it on ebay.
So everyone can choose for themselves what they prefer...
