Yeah, there seems to be a lot of "but it's not as good as I imagined it" in this hobby, even though what's being released is far and away the best iteration produced. Anyway, they're good enough for me. And agreed Lejuan and Rory, HT deserve a lot of credit for even attempting to mass produce Chewie. Supposing this is the final version, I still feel it deserves a buy to encourage them to keep innovating. Still gonna be incredibly cool to have Han and Chewie on the shelf until the next version comes out.

Are fans so deperate for a mass produced Chewie that there are willing to accept it, just cause its the first one attempted? Yeah, that's swell and all, but call me nuts, but I want MY 1:6 chewie to kinda, sorta (just a little) look like the actual thing from the movie.

Well, it's being tweaked, if we can believe some of the info on the forum. I get as-is it may not be good enough for some and that's fine. For me it would be a reasonable representation on the shelf and I can just sell it on in a few years, supposing a more definitive versions comes out. These aren't life and death decisions, Matt. :lol

Compared to what other 1/6 Star Wars figures? I don't understand how you can rave about Hoth Han but knock all of these?
The Stormtroopers are the best 1/6 SW figures I own, I personally believe Vader is going to be as good, when it's released. Fett already is outstanding. I wish it was 1/6 but that another conversation. Old Ben looks beautiful, not 100% Guinness for sure, but its the most lifelike Obi-Wan we have seen so far. Chewie, just a few months back everyone said it couldn't be done. They are doing it, hopefully we will see an upgrade eye/mouth area. So what does that leave? Solo? Like Ben it's a beautiful figure, it looks lifelike but the likeness is off. But it's still the best we have seen so far, please don't include any figure where you have to hide the top half of it's face to look good.

So these may not be the perfect figures of your dreams, but to say they are disappointing seems a bit off. IMO.

Wow, people are really taking this personally for some reason. The reason I give Hoth Han praise is because, well, it's Sideshow, and that's about the quality I expect from them. But from HT I usually expect a whole lot MORE than that, and I'm just not seeing that with these figures. I was hoping for likenesses as good, or near as good, as we continually see with their Marvel figures, or Terminators, or the MOS Superman. But even from a distance these don't seem to hold up that well-- at least to my eyes. They might be decent representations of the characters, but not of the actual actors or costumes, or at least not to the level I'd like.

(And I figured it was understood the Boba wasn't even 1/6, so I wasn't even counting that one, as nice as it does look). :)

Off topic but with all of the SSC Obi-Wans being dumped now, what is that figure selling for? Id like to pick the SSC Obi-Wan up.

No man, not taking anything personally. I don't take anything in here seriously or personally. Just giving my opinion that's all. Take it or leave it. :duff

Agreed. I certainly give HT tons of credit for making a Chewie at all, and getting as much right as they did (and in fact I've actually been fairly kind to it in that thread, compared to most), but for $260 I still want something that captures the character better than this does at the moment.

~$100 to $175 it looks like on ebay...

Top is never opened exclusive...

Bottom is non-exclusive

Looks like around $130-40 for an exclusive right now.

As for likeness'... the new updated pics look WAAAAY better and I easily see it an a big improvement over the SSC version which is pretty good but back then they were still pretty doll-like in the details (repaints I have seen look good). The new sculpt is good, only thing off imo is the beard texture and could add more white to it (small complaints imo).

Yes. Eyeballing a $150 MIB now. Tempted.

Can someone link new pics of the retouched HT Obi sculpt? What page is it on? Im not a fan of this fig as intially presented. Not enough Guiness in it to make me bite. He looks too young...to vibrant. Guiness looked worn and fragile in Ep IV. SSC captures that for me and Im competent enough to repaint it myself.

Just be aware that the HT Ben will likely be tweaked yet again before release, and that getting the SSC head repainted (along with new body/hands - this is the outdated SSC body/hands) will make a redone SSC Ben more expensive than the HT figure, especially if you pay $150.

Unless you're really desperate for a Ben, maybe wait the months until HT Ben early in-hand pics are shoing up and make the decision then - it's a safeguard that you don't go through a major hassle (yes, that's what repaints often amount to, and sometimes more) only to find that HT has tweaked their Ben into a bullseye.

Let's face it - if HT were to tweak to the same degree again (over their first prototype) this Ben would be nailed. It improved quite a lot in this last go-round.

lol I agree with that.....but still, damnit. I want a great Chewie.

Chewie does look a hell of a lot better in the "flesh" than the pictures give it credit for. The Han figure looks just like the pics.

The thing I most wish HT would revisit on this Obi-wan is the color of his beard. More white and less gey.

Never assume ANY Hot Toys delay means something is being tweaked or improved.

Yeah, I'm not sure where the belief the other figures are "definitely" getting tweaked is coming from. Seems like its a case of wishing it enough times has somehow made it a "fact".

We don't know what we're getting - exact replication of proto, subtle differences to proto, or another fairly significant tweak - until it shows up at the end of this year (or far earlier - Stormie was way early.)

So people who are thinking of spending $$ over and above the cost of a HT Ben to reboot a SSC Ben would do best to wait and see how this comes out. That's what the above post was referring to.

Best I've seen this figure look....

Lol. Not that I really care, but one of the posters with contacts said HT was still tweaking Chewie after the PO went up. They've been right on everything they've said prior, so I don't see any need to question it. We'll see what happens.
