Yeah idk about that one. Lol

It's funny to me that we get these super realistic sculpts from Hot Toys that look phenomenal as a collectible toy form of the character, and always get scrutinized to an extreme level, yet Sideshow's sculpts are always very toyish looking and that's always okay and accepted.

I agree. I collect both, but I call it the way I see it. This is a very good figure, but I will reserve final judgment until it is in hand. I am planning on replacing many of my SSC SW figures with the HT's ones. This figure is not perfect, but the paint takes it to a different level. I cannot paint my own, so my old SSC obi will get replaced. Sculpt is good on the SSC one, but the paint makes it look like a cheap toy.

It is? That looks like ****. :lol

I could've sworn it was much better than HT's first effort. Maybe it is. :slap Oh well, my feelings towards this remain the same. Unlikely to get it, but who knows?

That's what I mean - it's a little weird people are thinking this is the old much-maligned sculpt.

It's impossible to mistake this for anyone else so I think it's damn near perfect. All of these sculpts are going to look incredible in person.

This DOES look a bit more like this guy I always see at our local cafe than Alec Guiness. I'll try to take a pic of him next time I see him. I'll say it's to compare him to a Star Wars doll likeness - he might be cool about it.:dunno

I don't know. He could be Captain Birdseye with his fishy fingers out of uniform. :dunno

The HT hand sculpt is a little older than that hand though.:lol

It's because Sideshow is having an unexpected renaissance.

And Hot Toys is having a rare senior moment.

The difference between the "old" sculpt and the new one were minimal at best. Reworking the beard and a better paint app were the only notable differences I saw. I'm not surprised by confusion this is causing.

I don't usually like figures that are based off actors. Example: I don't want a Captain America fig because its just Chris Evans. I don't want Hawkeye because its just that actor Jeremy Rener playing Hawkeye. Not a fan of having actors on my shelves. But something about this figure speaks to me. He isn't just some 2 hour movie blockbuster actor playing at your theater this summer. He's this Iconic character that has lasted since 1977. He will probably be one of the few figures on my detolfs that are based off a real actor. He is a classic. Even if the likeness isn't 100% (and honestly it looks really great to me) I'm not wanting "Alec Guiness" on my shelf I want Obi-Wan. And for $215 that's a steal
