Mine finally arrived. Hoping for no QC issues. Interested in seeing the Keaton figure in person, I pony'd up for the two pack.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Its weird before Hot Toys made Returns Bats I just thought the Returns logo was used for 89 Batman movie.

Returns

Though the top image is lower res, those are IDENTICAL logos in every way- one is just the reverse/mirror image of the other. Look at all of the highlight positioning and shapes.

they are the same thing just flipped/mirrored?
:dunno

That looks amazing! Can't wait to get mine. He'll be my first HT batman. I think I made a good choice picking him up.

The DX09 was my first batman too!!! And it turned out to be an expensive hobby lol

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Don't mean to stir any pots, but as a maker of things, I'm trying to work out the actual cost to make a cape:

1. Research (time spent).
2. Accurate pattern drafting and cutting.
3. Materials sourcing -- either time spent or cost of travel.
4. Travel time/cost or shipping cost to obtain material. (see above)
5. Cost of material and any consumables (i.e. thread?).
6. Prototyping.
7. Labour for finished product. (Accurate cuts -- plus is there stitching involved?)

Low volume sales make low cost production unprofitable.

Fifty to sixty bucks does sound steep for a piece of cloth, but it's a niche product for your niche product that someone has to make by hand.

Were I in the same position as Mr. Meis, I probably wouldn't bother doing it for less.

I agree that it's expensive, but I can't see why anyone would make and sell these for less. :dunno

well said, some people don't seem to get what goes into making something, and whether or not it's worth it to make it for less
When it comes to custom accessories, if you don't like the price, make it yourself?

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I see it like the part-outs on ebay and the, lets face it, absurd prices many of us pay for those. And those guys aren't making these parts themselves, they're merely selling them on.

DX09 will always be special to me. I don't regret making my spare DX09 more BD

Pre-ordered from Forbidden Planet and still not arrived yet! 😡 Says their waiting for more info from suppliers, anyone else had one from FP yet?

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Hate to tell you but it could be a while before they get it. It's a UK store, they were never going to have it this soon.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

What we need to remember is that HK gets the releases first because HT is located there. From there on, SSC gets first crack and after that SSC distributes the stock to the other vendors.

So don't expect any vendor receiving these outside of HK before SSC unless someone is auctioning theirs on ebay, chances are they probably got it from HK.:lecture

So you guys are wondering when your vendors will receive BR, until SSC gets their stock just be patient or buy from ebay.

I believe SSC has delayed it until Feb-March now

Lol! DX09 was my very first Hot Toy too. Then, I couldn't pass up '89 Joker. Four years, and dozens of figures later: You're absolutely right! It's an expensive hobby!

So opened the two pack up. No QC issues thank christ. What a beautiful figure Batman is.
The eyes as others have mentioned are pretty beautiful, as is the cowl. Surprised that the suit is soft rubber, thought I had heard it was gonna be some kind of vinyl.
I will go against the tide of custom cape posts here and say that I think the cape is pretty great stock. It feels correct for Returns, the way it stands out from the body a little. I have had several of Tony's capes so not knocking them at all, but just to say I think this is very good stock with a little futzing. Belt is the perfect colour gold/yellow.
Negatives? Pose-ability is non existent really. That's it. The Keaton figure is very nice, you can actually see Keaton in there from some angles if you look right. :lol
Skin is very dark, he looks Brazilian. Likeness is obviously off, but not annoyingly like the proto. Suit is very sharp though. And he looks very cool with the torn cowl.

Congrats Rory.

I've took yours and some others' advice and I'm keeping the figure - just sending the body back for replacement which I did earlier today.

Good call man, It's a very impressive figure isn't it?
I know it's a lot of hassle sending stuff back, but when you get that pristine new replacement body you will be glad you did. I did it with the old DX02 and was glad I did despite all the hassle and you know Timcent will get it sorted properly for you.. And it is Batman Returns after all. :rock

It's all down to the cowl. The cowl is the reason I decided to buy it despite some disappointing aspects to the figure and the cowl is the reason I'm keeping it despite the initial temptation to just get a full refund after it arrived broken.

The cowl just looks so cool, cooler than the '89 one.

Plus, as I've said, I don't know when I'll be buying another Hot Toys item at this point. Theoretically once I pay this I'll be getting a lot of saving done.

Yup, since it can't be about the articulation and posing this time , it has to be about details in craftsmanship in design and the cowl

Congrats Rory, and glad you are replacing it A-Dev :clap

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Any turn or crunch of the torso has an awful looking effect on the suit so yeah, posing is out.
