So does this mean we might see Catwoman >_>??

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

As of right now, I won't be getting this. Hopefully someone will sell their Keaton Bruce Wayne by himself.

If the real production ones come out looking like the proto, I think you'll get a lot of PM.

No. Them showing a Catwoman Prototype would mean we might see Catwoman. Not being a smarta$$ there. That is simply how you should think with regard to Hot Toys or be prepared for disappointment.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

They're just too damn similar though. And the side-by-side in the proto-pics only emphasizes this. I mean if you're gonna just rehash the same mouth pieces from DX09 you might aswell leave the blood on the one of them to at least keep it looking somewhat distinctive.

It's not like they only do this with DC. Half the age of ultron figures have recycled heads.

As for those wanting the glider or saying hot toys failed...there are just as many people that don't want it. And becuase of the way the suit is designed I'm not even sure they could have done it without some crazy modifications. Something like the power pose hulk smash torso maybe. But when you are unsure the figure will sell keeping the price low is important. And the price point for the single figure is well below marvel top tier figures. (Iron man for example)

Yes it would have been neat to have. But the PP would have been 150 bucks more at least. Even for a version without it's glider, had they made one, the price would have needed to go up to cover the engineering.

True. Although that's not exactly a defence

I'll live without it, chances are I wouldn't have used it (or been afraid to use it).

The reality is the burton batman figures didn't fly off the shelves while other licenses did. If you want them to make penguin or catwoman then you have to buy.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I'm starting to like the Miguel Keaton head after all.

I'm sad that HT won't be making a Michael Pfeiffer or Denny DeVito.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I just wonder why they couldn't do the glider. If they could make Falcon's wings they surely could make the glider. Just assuming that the restrictions on the suit held them back. Feel like there had to be a way though.
Falcon's arms aren't rubber and can articulate better. Batman would be risky to spread his arms out to the sides like that and while I understand why some are disappointed with the lack of the glider I don't think it's a huge deal. He had it briefly in the film and it wasn't seen again whereas with a figure like Falcon it's a vital piece to the character. Plus the extra cost to throw in the glider and raise the price on the overall set probably held it back too.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Well to be fair, I think the actual Batman figure looks superb.

If I was a newb that missed out on the DX09, I would be all over it.

If they revise that horrendous Keaton sculpt, i'll get one when someone breaks the set and sells it separately.

That he does. I definitely think I prefer this suit just a tad over the '89 version whose fake abs are a bit excessive. I also like the straighter silhouette of the cowl.

I missed the 89 Batman, so I'll be getting the single Batman figure. The two pack is a no-go, as the Keaton sculpt is beyond horrendous.

They could've scratched the Keaton kitbash in order to include the Glider and keep the price reasonable.

Seriously, aside from the HS, who wants a MK tuxed figure? It's not like the Armory where it makes sense since you get Alfred as well. Who do you display Keaton with?

I guess it is what it is. At this point, there's just no reason to keep complaining I guess.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I think the Wayne figure was a nice addition personally. Yeah the Keaton sculpt needs work but still its a cool unexpected addition to the set. It'd be better if we had a Selina to go with it but I'll still take the two pack and be happy. After all the time people have waited for this figure I like that Hot Toys is throwing something a bit extra to the fans.

It's supposed to be that way, the hero and he's alter ego. You display them together. Just look at the Alex Murphy and Battle Damaged Robocop set, same thing.

Me personally, I'm very happy they included the extra body with the appropriate clothing! I own different action figures (DX12, Harvey Dent Two Face, Michael Jackson Thriller) that were delivered with an awesome extra head sculpt that just stays in the box lacking an additional body. And that's a pity.

Now you'll argue saying you can always buy an extra body for those figures, I made several bashes in the past, I found it difficult to find the right body with the right (neck) connectors and appropriate clothing (and also for a reasonable price).

I am also very happy with the Broken Cowl, didn't expected it and I think this is a real bonus for us!

Before the figure was released I was expecting just a basic Batman Returns Batman with very few accessories as Hot toys focus was clearly not on this license. Otherwise why the 3 years wait? I am happy Hot toys put in some effort and delivered not only the Batman figure but also the set!

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

Just thinking, for completism sake, I probably would want the full set even though I didn't particularly care to own a Bruce Wayne. It's probably gonna be the last figure in the entire Burton Batman line so maybe I shouldn't stop just short of owning everything HT makes for it. But please Hot Toys, please give us a decent likeness. I think a lot of us would forgive the lack of Glider if the Keaton sculpt is on a par with that Peter Weller Robocop sculpt. A Keaton likeness of that calibre and the really cool Returns Batsuit would end this line on a high, if indeed it is to end.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

I wonder, if HT included the glider how many collectors would keep it on the figure, rubber suit all stretched up? AoU Hulk-esque switch-torso sounds okay, but that would mean having the rubber suit cut by the waist, and how many would want that?

Perhaps another sad compromise being branded as an "epic fail" by some.

Getting only the Bat figure. I wish HT just gave us the Keaton head and cowl along with Batman, maybe for $260.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

To me Bruce Wayne figure > glider. Way, way better. (If the sculpt was any good, that is.)

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

i recently got the dx09..and am gonna get the two pack. got to have that ripped cowl!

Re: Hot Toys – MMS 293 & 294 Batman Returns: Batman and Bruce Wayne (Keaton) Set

As opposed to all those tuxedo bruce bodies that will get left in the box? :monkey3 ;)

I love it when Hot Toys does these box sets and offers buyers the choice to spend more for more, but in this case I can't help but feel like the cheaper version plays more like a second chance to own a Keaton Batman for those that missed the DX09, and nothing else.

Well, the tux being left in the box is rather due to poor tooling. The same could have happened with the glider had the body not been able to probably hold it, thus rendering it useless.

And while I don't know the collecting landscape nowadays, so perhaps we're in the minority, but again, there are those of us who consciously skipped the '89 batman because we prefer the returns suit, so this release is exactly what we were hoping for.

Now if only hot toys made a Blade 1 version, for those of us who skipped the initial Blade II release hoping for the first version. At least here I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority. :lol
