Stephen Strange wins easily for me - Cumberbatch's Sherlock is amazing.

For Quicksilver AOU > DOFP. By far. DOFP's is more of a plot device than a character.

I don't know, I preferred Quicksilver in DOFP. He was cocky, little teenage brat and he could become a much larger character in X-Men in future.

Marvel made the mistake of crossing over too many of it's comics. Doesn't Wolverine even have a stint as an Avenger as well? So technically Marvel could cast their own Wolverine, but he wouldn't be able to be called a mutant because they can't use that term. They didn't really have to bring in Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver into The Avengers so soon. They've come to an agreement with Sony to use Spider-Man, so the same could have been done with X-Men down the line.
They had to change the whole history of SW and QS just to have them appear in the film, then they killed QS off just like that.

yeah but Wolverine is always assosiated with the Xmen.
and the relationship between Marvel and Fox is not as good with Marvel and Sony.

Yeah, because Marvel/Disney is trying to run them into the ground by making it hard for any merchandising for their films.

DOFP felt like a plot device only to me - a "look how cool he is!" plot device, because he's used for this one purpose and then they don't bother to bring him along even though he would be of use to the group. He's just there for flash bang.

AOU Quicksilver was an actual character with a backstory for his reason to volunteer for Strucker's experiments, and he had his close relationship with his sister. You saw more than just "cool" with him.

I'm super, super happy with what they've done with Scarlet Witch, and I'm really happy to have her going forward in the MCU. Not the least bit sorry they had to change her backstory to get her there. I liked the one they gave the twins in the film.

I think it's been clear their relationship with Sony is a lot better than their relationship with Fox, so I don't see any kind of crossover happening there at any time in the near or even distant future. And I don't think it's as one sided as Disney trying to run them into the ground.

Wolverine didn't become an Avenger until the 2000's so that's why we can't use him. Wanda and Pietro however have first appeared in X-Men but have been Avengers since 1965 so that's why we're able to use them.

And I hate DOFP Quicksilver the more and more so watch the movie. He's way too ****ing overpowered.

To be honest, AOU displayed his speed way more correctly. He's not supposed to be Barry or Bart Allen fast.

Same applies with Black Panther and Inhumans, they both first appeared in an issue of Fantastic Four but ever since that one issue appearance, they always been affiliated with their own books.

Couldn't disagree more. Not only was DOFP's Quicksilver better visually, but Peters was ten times more charismatic than boring ATJ.

I don't blame ATJ, love the guy, but his character was very lacking. Peters would steal every scene he was in and alot of it has to do with better writing for the character.

Well that's because he was Barry Allen not Pietro

:exactly:

But *sigh* this conversation again.

In terms of getting the character from the comics, AOU is a **** ton better than DOFP. Power, and character wise. The personality was DEAD ON and ATJ nailed that. His first line to Clint, him talking to Tony in Klaw's ship, how he told the cops to get everyone out of the city "get off your asses..." , and the most important part, his relationship with Wanda was just so good. I loved how he was always checking up on her and asking if she was alright. They were always together. Plus, I LOVED how literally the second and third shots of the movie are of them and the third shot is of them holding hands. He's literally Pietro from the comics. Another thing I really liked was how they showed that he is indeed invulnerable. He got shot. Haha, even his reaction to getting shot was awesome.

Jesus, even Barry Allen is vulnerable to getting shot and they even showed that in his own show.

The only real things that DOFP had taken from Pietro was that one he had a form of super speed and somewhat of a cocky guy.

Yeah sure his powers looked cool, visually but that's just not Pietro at all. I know that's not a huge deal to people that don't read the material but it'd make me a little sad if that were the general public's way of seeing the character. Kinda like how a ton of people see Christian Bale's Batman as a good interepretation o comic book Batman. It's not. It's pretty much just an elseworlds universe. And i'm hoping that BvS gives us a great comic book Batman on screen for the general audiences to appreciate. That doesn't mean that they can't improve on him in Apocalypse though. They should, if anything tone down his powers.

I'm really not saying that changing things from the source material is a bad thing but I think it's best to change things BUT still keep what makes the character so beloved to fans in the first place. It reminds me a lot of what they did to TASM's Peter Parker. Or...what if the Harry Potter movies have never been made yet but the movies turned Harry into some sort of ****** like Peter. It's like why do that to such a beloved character?

I read the material and I could care less. I loved Peters' Quicksilver. I didn't think he was a ****** at all. He was awesome. I cared more about him in five minutes than I did for ATJ in 2 hours. ATJ was forgettable.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

May I ask what about his character did you not like?

There wasn't much to him. He was basically Wanda's fast brother. No development, nothing. We have no idea what this guy's about and then suddenly he's dead. Other than Wanda - who cares?

I'm a big fan of ATJ's, but this role didn't challenge him at all. Anyone could have played him.
