Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

Also, I just finally saw Days of Future Past and their version of Quicksilver is pretty awesome, so I say let them have him.

he had one good scene. But his power set makes him really hard to write around.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

The thing about DOFP Pietro...I mean Peter was that he was like...Wally West Flash, fast. That was my problem. He was too overpowered and really only had one good scene. and one of the most important things about his character is his relationship to Wanda, which I hope they covered well in AOU, as well as his very very cocky and arrogant attitude. Pietro is pretty much an ass. Peter was just a hyperactive annoying teen. OH. He was basically Speed. Not Quicksilver. There we go, he was pretty much playing Tommy. Bryan Singer didn't even know that Wanda was his sister which was hilarious in an interview he had for the movie a few months before it came out. DOFP Quicksilver was to me, an average take on the character. The only things I liked was the nod to Eric being his dad. (though he isn't his father anymore)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

If singer didn't know, which I find hard to believe, it wasn't months before it came out but well before production started. As months before it came out the principal photography and video was done and they has already shot it with them as a family (brother sister mother). So, yeah.

Haha I just gotta find the article dude. It was on cbm when it came out. But that little girl wasn't Wanda. They're twins.

Just becuase they are twins in comics doesn't mean they are in the fox x-universe.
But you could be correct. Though they never named her so it doesn't matter.

edit-found the interview on CBM you where talking about, where singer says they are related and that the little girl is not the sister, but that Wanda is off screen up stairs. So pretty sure he knew.

Also found several pre-production interviews (months before the film was started) and in most of them it take about both Wanda and pietro/peter and how they are twins, or siblings or both magnetos kids or not for the film .....hard to talk about them being twins and not know they are siblings.

its such a waste to kill off an interesting new character... Or any character. Or the villains.

Marvel is really pathetic now a days when it just comes to killing people for no reason.

If you're talking the comics, well that's always going on with all sorts of characters, and then they eventually come back. If you're talking the movies, I can't think of a death that was this surprising since Coulson in The Avengers. And even then, Coulson came back in Agents of Shield...and it all really worked for his character and the show.

In terms of Quicksilver in AoU, sure there's plenty they could have done with him, but at the same time, there are going to be LOADS of new characters coming in, so losing him really won't hurt anything in the long run. He was a cool character, he worked really well in the story, and his death showed growth and was a major push for Scarlet Witch.

It's not like I wouldn't have enjoyed seeing him in a future film, but he served his purpose well here, and I think it was incredibly shocking and not simply throwing the character away for a cheap kill/surprise.

When Joss was asked about how we're never shown Quicksilver's grave site he responded:

“We didn’t what? Oh, that’s true.”

Of course, I think that'd be silly. There have actually been a lot of deaths in the MCU that are instantly taken back, so I'd say Quicksilver is gone for good.

I appreciated QS' part in the film, though I found his voice a little high-pitched and distracting in one or two scenes. It lessened the gravitas of his delivery, at least to me. That said, overall his role in the movie was solid.

Joss always talks about there needing to be consequences to giant fights, so I think he intends for Quicksilver to be gone for good. What Marvel does is beyond his control.

On another note, I liked the idea of his death pushing Wanda's growth. It's usually the other way around (female death inspires male hero).

I do wish he had more to do in the movie, if only to spite Fox and DoFP, but they really nailed his character in Avengers. Not so much in X-Men.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

Well now that we know they killed of Quicksilver where does that leave things with future X-men line ups? I must say I did really dislike the whole 'experimentation' theme and 'enhanced' rubbish talked about in AoU why couldn't the just stick with mutant and stop destroying their own character origins.
They can't use the term mutant because Fox owns the rights to X-Men.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

Quicksilver was one of my most wanted figures going into the movie but I will probably pass on him now if he isn't in a two pack with Scarlet Witch.

He wasn't fleshed out enough as a character to spend $200 on a figure of and now that he's dead he probably never will be.

I imagine the Russo's will bring him back.

You shouldn't use a characters death to motivate someone, especially if you do it every single damn thing you ever wrote. Joss has a horrible tendency to do this, and it doesn't work here. Wanda was already motivated against Ultron due to her reading of Vision's mind, she didn't need anything else.

Pietro was done so well, and his personality and relationship with Wanda would serve as a different viewpoint in comparison to most of the other Avengers.

The best part, at least, for me, is that his superspeed didn't seem OP. He was shown as exhausted after the train sequence, tired and needed to catch his breath on multiple occasions. Still, taken out by damned bullets is the worst idea imaginable. Like, Ultron as telekinesis, laser projection, etc etc etc, and yet it was bullets. Pietro was shown fast enough to get Hawkeye and the boy out of the way of the line of fire. But whatever. Hack writer.

I hope his figure comes with the jacket with the arrows on it along with his main outfit. I just wonder what they will give him accessory wise. I'm surprised no one was shown with a new Chitauri Scepter given its important and existing mold.

I'm betting they will go with the final look. As for what he comes with, I'm guessing he'll be barebones

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

I really hope they make this figure regardless of what happened in the movie.

I was under the impression that both him and Elizabeth Olsen signed multi film contracts. Why would they kill him off? I really liked him in the movie. Maybe they will bring him back using the machine they repaired Hawkeye with.

I deleted most of my post because I thought I knew how to post it as a spoiler.

My apologies...

:lol It's all good. I think you forgot to add the " / " in the second [ SPOILER ] tag, give it a try!

I really feel that they are going to "feel out" whether to bring him back or not. I'm sure there is some pressure from the production company on which way to take it since he is being used in the FOX films as well. I think they will see how popular or needed the character is and then make a decision to bring him back. I mean, they did after all show the body being tended to by Hawkeye who experienced the living tissue building first hand. Who knows.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Avengers: AoU - Quicksilver figure discussion

I was just thinking that we'll probably get swap out hair pieces for QS. One standard and the other with a wind blown look. Running poses may look strange with normal set hair.

I can't think of any other accessories that would make sense besides the hair and maybe his track jacket.
