I don't know why they used a smirk. I don't recall a scene where he smirked. If he did it was brief. I would have liked a regular mouth or one of his more common expressions with the mouth open slightly, but so far though I'm liking the DX12 more.

^ exact thoughts, especially in TDKR the main expression for me was Bale with a slightly open mouth. The DX02 came close to that but their half open mouth had lips coming forward making it seem like he is in mid-speech rather than just breathing.

EB's half open mouth on the other hand is spot on. Wish HT had it

As for the 1/6 space above the abs it does seem like the gap is too big, and the argument that it's there to allow the figure to bend doesn't work since that would mean that the 1/4 won't be able do the same. But at Anicom the gap seemed to have been fixed :dunno

The 1/4 looks like his arms are too long and slender. I much prefer the 1/6, and am glad that I pre-ordered it. :)

That pic is a great reference and is exactly what I was talking about. I would love to see that as an interchangeable face instead of the smirk for DX12 and the 1/4 Hot Toy. I remember every other Batman smirking. Keaton, Kilmer (Especially Kilmer lol), and Clooney but never Bale.

The open mouth expression is actually because of the cowl, the cowl makes it hard to breath through the nose, so Bale starts breathing with his mouth open more prominently (exhaling during action scenes and stuff, like here https://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/dark-knight-rises-bane-tom-hardy-21.jpg). In turn, it created his batman look. I don't see any of that in the DX012.

Conclusion :lecture Both are damn good figures with some flaws.

It's actually not a smirk. It's supposed to be his "normal" look. HT just sucks at sculpting the expressions. Look at his grumpy face too. The way his mouth is shaped is comical.

Enterbay did a superb job for their Bale cowl likenesses and expressions. They look very natural. HT's don't.

Agreed. Enterbay did a damn fine job on the expression and I wish HT did to. And it looks like HT's could do it right based on the DX12 head sculpt pics. They gave the Bale head sculpt that mouth and it looks great!

Looks still pretty darn spectacular and 90% there in accuracy. Good enough for me...

Looking at this picture, I really don't mind as long as you can still close the gap by adjusting the chest.

Can you buy just the gloves? I have one of the armored Batman "street jackets" from that company (not quite as extreme looking as the costumes) ... but wouldn't mind having the gloves to go with it.
