It's pretty easy to imagine Hot Toys' running thought process on this one:
"Female character = $$$^... Pre-release movie hype = $$$^... Two figure set = $$$^... Many tiny bits of plastic included (otherwise known as 'accessories') = $$$^... Shhhh! Just sell them quick before the movie comes out- it might suck, then nobody will want them!"

The tooling and the working parts are way more advanced for R2 though. I think $65 for what BB8 is in line for what it is. I am sure there will include some magnets for BB8 to cling to so its not just a big hunk of plastic mould. This is probably 25-35 over what it could be charged. $249 - $269 looks like a good price if it was set there.

Price seems fine if you ask me. $225 is a pretty average price for a human character and Rey comes with a decent amount of accessories and two head sculpts. Adding BB-8 for $65 more seems reasonable considering that R2 on its own was $150.

My thoughts exactly.

Im more disappointed that BB-8 doesn't have any extra features aside from lights. Doesn't this thing have any arms or tools inside of it, like R2 ?

I'm not. If BB-8 came with any sort of arms or tools the price would surely have been over $300. I'd never use any of them, and like my R2-D2's tools they'd be in the box.

I don't know about R2 being way more advanced. BB-8 has to be properly weighted so the dome section can roll with the bottom and also it has lights. R2 might be bigger but I bet BB-8 has as much or more tooling.

R2 has integrated door pieces and a sundry of small bits that goes with him, a snap in channel for the third leg, a third the leg, wheels, led lights, connected moving parts on the head and other bits like lenses and hoses on the legs with articulated joints.

BB8 has a two piece ball I am assuming, probably magnets for any connectable arms and a two piece head with a lense. Dunno if there is a light up feature for him yet.

I don't see how BB8 is anywhere near the level of tooling R2 is.

I think it's an amazing likeness (as it's the eyes of the actress playing the part that are most immediately striking), but I'm not at all interested in owning it. I'm happy with the OT line.

It's under $300 for 2 characters, I don't think that is too bad actually. It's probably a bit of a waste just doing a separate release for BB-8, a bit like the waste of that mini Antman/Antony figure that should have been included with a figure.

Tweaked her eyes a bit in Photoshop. Just shrunk them in a little and it improved the likeness immediately.

It looks like you used the "My mother drank heavily while carrying me to term" filter.
lol it's a bit too much but I see Daisy more looking at the right than I do on the left. Might just be because the smaller eyes gives her the harsher expression though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No f ing way paying 290.00 plus Sideshow shipping charge of 20.00 plus dollars. We are officially at 300.00 1/6 figures. I am out. This is ridiculous. The hobby is pretty much dead for me now. High end mass produced Toys is where we are at. Secondary market is dead. There is no feeling that I have a special collectible with limited number being produced. Sad for a non dx figure. Done. Collecting mainly premium format now.

That is a lie. Regular release is $225. Does $225 = $300 to you? What do you see that I don't?

:wave

Tell that to those selling the Stormtroope two pack for $500+. Imagine what that price will be 6 months from now. Secondary market is very much alive. I can sell any Hot Toy of mine and make money.

And you complain about 1/6th figure prices! :lol:lol Those statues have gone up $80, these figures only $40. :lol

$290 USD = $392 CAD
$40 USD = $54 estimated shipping
+ $51 tax on delivery
--------------------------
$497

...and on a character we have not even seen yet?

I think the only other easier pass would be is if they made Jar Jar.!

So, are Hot Toys supposed to wait and put this up? Who cares this is up for PO now.

You just started in Jan 2014 and you're already out? Why did you even start?

He started for that '66 Batmobile man.

I think purchasing TFA HT figures is a massive waste of money. This character will have so many incarnation do you really want them all?? Cough MARVEL/AVENGERS!! Stick to selecting from movies that are done. OT/PT.

OT figures are done with for now it seems. PT figures aren't being made anytime soon. If this is similar to the OT, first movie of the trilogy has the most iconic looks. So, I think buying these will be great, especially if you enjoy the movie.

Figure looks great, but seriously, a $65 markup for sand and BB-8??? What in the holy ***** are they trying to do?

Do you expect BB-8 to be free?

but damn they should at least hold their retail price value. At this point you can't even sell figures to break even it seems anymore.

Do you have 200 SSC figures?

But wwejedi... Is laughing at all of us because this is such a sweet friggin deal guys. We need to quit are complaining because we have the privaledge to buy these amazingly detailed toys at great prices! Don't miss out on that star wars girl who's movie you havnt seen yet, who comes with a stick, a pistol and a back backpack.

The average price now is $225. So :dunno Feel free to buy it after the movie. The "wow to expensive when movie not even out yet" statement is stupid. No one is forcing you to buy it. They want to capitalize off the hype like any good business would do. Blame SSC for taking NRDs then.

This. All of this.

:duff

You must be new here. :lol
These are the same people who are selling the little Rocket Raccoon figure for $160.
But he is an awesome little figure though :monkey3
