I think if they were gonna take the obvious route, then they would have revealed it already. Everyone and their mothers dog thought she was Luke's daughter since she was cast. Why would they hold it back if that were the case?

My thinking is that Rey as Luke's daughter isn't the big reveal. Something else will be...

Finally placed my order for Rey using reward points. I wanted to wait until my Indy and Leia points came through as well but with the allocations to Australia for both Boba Fett and the FO Snowtroopers selling through, I didn't want to risk waiting any longer as the DVD/Blu-ray release will probably lead to more sales and a possible region lock out.

I hope she is Luke's daughter and Obi-Wan's granddaughter.

Now that WOULD be something.

THIS is what I have been hoping as well.... That would also explain how powerful she is. With both Skywalker and Kenobi blood in her. A definite FORCE to be reckoned with!

This has always been my speculation. This would explain why she has a real strong connection to the force and that specific lightsaber.

Exactly, it would be so cool and explain a lot. And Luke finding/being found by Obi-Wan's daughter and they falling in love, and the way she died (or not) could be even a stronger backstory for everything that is happening.

Imagine: Rey Kenobi Skywalker.

I'm all for the Skywalker-Kenobi lineage, but I think just being a Skywalker alone would be enough to explain why she has a strong connection to the Skywalker lightsaber.

Skywalker seems easier to explain. But why did Obi Wan speak directly to her when Anakin would maker more sense?

Perhaps that's why the Skywalker-Kenobi lineage is possible.

To me, the Skywalker lineage is all but assured because of this: In the scene in Maz's cantina when Rey wandered off into the basement of the cantina and Solo was still sitting at the bar, Maz asked him "Who's the girl?" It never showed his answer. However, one of the very next scenes was Maz running up to Rey and imploring her to take the lightsaber. So to me, whatever his answer was, caused Maz to do that.

Now, if Rey had exclusively Kenobi lineage, I don't believe Solo would know the history of Kenobi's family tree. Heck, he barely even knew Obi-Wan himself other than simply being, "The Old Man". Furthermore, if say somehow he did even know Kenobi's family tree, I don't think Maz nor Solo would have known that Anakin's lightsaber was ever in Obi-Wan's possession for nearly 20 years before giving it to Luke. Hence, she'd have no reason to emphatically beg her to take it.

It's baffling enough to wonder how the saber ended up in Maz's possession after last seeing it falling with Luke's hand in Cloud City, but I think the aforementioned would be even more baffling.

Didn't Obi-Wan say something like "...you took your first step." Perhaps his force ghost was present with Rey and Luke when she was a toddler beginning to walk. Who knows, Ghost Obi-Wan may have been helping train the padawans at Luke's academy.

I'm still unclear how it would be possible for Rey to have both Skywalker and Kenobi blood in her veins. I took that comment as sarcasm, but then again, it's the inter webs.

EDIT: So the theory is that Obi-Wan had a daughter, Luke somehow ran into _____ Kenobi during his travels across the galaxy, they fell in love and then had Rey?

I read some theory where she would just be kenobi's granddaughter so the duel in the final scene is a replay of ANH but with Vader's grand son and kenobi's grandkid, which is kinda cool. I don't care what they do but the idea of continuing Kenobi's story through his lineage into this trilogy is kinda neat.
