Alter Ego and Shopafx have these at 220 each. Most likely CSC will also. Which makes these cheaper bought separately in those places than buying the set from SS. Not to mention shipping is cheaper in those places with double boxing.
People were clamoring for an army of Chitauri so these should move pretty quick imo
Would be an extra $69.44 after the recent increase in SS shipping rates and duties and taxes to get a set from Sideshow with the special weapons...I would probably never use them either, thier "blasters" are pretty nice...
Hot Toys is the Lamborghini of 1/6 figures.I'm new to this hobby but it might just be that i won't stick around if these prices are anything to go by.
The high end collectable figure and statue market is made for the adult middle class but these prices will surely start turning people away? How many people can really afford almost $500 for 2 dolls? Don't get me started on people overseas having to pay extra shipping, 20% taxes and a FedEx release fee.
Have you ever told someone who doesn't know anything about toys how much you paid for your figures? I did recently and most estimated $20-$50. That's how much they are worth to the average person. Of course they are wrong. The R&D, materials, sculpts, paint, packaging, small production runs and all round quality and time put into figures like this means they can't sell them for Hasbro prices but surely it can't give them license to use carp blanche?
There is inflation and then there is greed and sadly this is a case of the latter. Just look at DX07 Luke. 2 figures for $300. The difference between the two Luke's is probably similar between the difference between the two Chitauri. So in a year or so the price for two similar products has increased $175. That is just crazy. And what happened to buy 2 together for less than the cost of buying 2 separately. Sorry 5 bucks off and a couple of pieces of extra plastic doesn't cut it.
I worry for the future of this hobby if Hot Toys and by extension Sideshow keep this current model. They raise prices, sell less so raise prices more on the next figure to compensate. That's not a sustainable business model. We're not the 1% and we're not buying Lamborghini's here. Eventually there will be a straw that breaks the camels back and while this probably won't be it, i can see it coming sooner rather than later if this continues.
Oh and by the way, sadly an easy pass for me if my post didn't make that clear!
I'm priced out
What an over priced POS!
A nameless enemy.
No thanks and an easy pass!
$240? Good luck moving these, Hot Toys.

Hot Toys is the Lamborghini of 1/6 figures.
That example makes zero sense lol.Ha! no. Not really. they're TRYING to be that overpriced sports car that is still marketed to the middle class.
A better example would be the game console market of the late 80's.. they're the Turbo GRaphix 16, or the Atari Jaugar.
Incorrect. For example, go read the HT ASM thread.Lol hot toys can do no wrong in your eyes
Been saying it for a while now. Hot toys Price creep is streatching the 1/6th bubble too far. they're going to collapse under the weight of their own prices.
These two look great together
