I'm a massive Terminator fan but all this 'best yet' talk has got to be influenced by at least some degree of bias. Hes definitely a great figure, I can even say that without having him in hand, but realistically theres nothing setting him apart from other HT figures beyond the fact that hes a fully licensed T1 figure - the first ever...to my knowledge and that is a major factor rather than just an estimation of the quality itself.

I dont know about anyone else but my opinion is definitely biased.
It doesnt matter to me if another figure was harder to make or whatever...the fact is, this is my favourite character to come out this year by far...which is why im looking forward to this figure the most and therefore its my figure of the year.

My opinion will be biased too. I will love this figure more than any other quite possibly, for the sheer novelty value - a T1 figure at LONG ___KING LAST....but technically is it Hot Toys best figure ever? Thats very subjective and many would say not.

technically? definitely not.
Id give that to figures like iron man, alien, predator etc etc
but i dont think of that with this figure.
being technically better doesnt automatically qualify as being better overall in my opinion.
theres plenty of figures already out there that are "technically" better than this that i couldnt care less about.
i dunno, i just care about the character when calling out figure of the year.

I think to really tag something as figure of the year, it should be an achievement above and beyond the norm, or, if for some reason there isn't anything in the year that really breaks new ground, the best overall execution.

I would say that this T1 is one of HT's best executions this year, the portrait is a great Arnold portrait, the costuming looks great, and the character's build and proportions are well represented by the figure. There's really not much they did wrong with this figure.

Yeah, I see what you mean and I can agree with that....kind of.
BUT! This is still my personal figure of the year because of the reasons I gave in my last posts.
Personally, I couldnt call a figure I have no interest in "figure of the year" no matter how great of an achievement it was.
But thats just me.

Well yeah I agree with that. Iron Man mark IV is certainly a stunning piece and top of many a list but I'm not going to vote for it because my passion is and will always be Terminator.

While a lot of figures are really fantastic with many or most I think people still find themselves with reservations, a feeling that there's something missing or not quite there, and I think when people say the T-800 is the best it's largely because of the absence of those reservations, not the license. As an achievement, as far as likeness and expression and build and everything go, it's at the top, certainly, I don't think you have to be a big Terminator fan to see that.

While I haven't seen it in-hand yet, going by what I'm seeing here this is one of those rare figures that I feel are just absolutely perfect in every sense, magical I says.

Everyone's pick will always be bias.

What makes this figure tops for me is the figure looks just like the source material. The cloths, the mass of the body, the sculpt the expression. This figure replicated the Terminator from early on in the movie.

HT knocks most of the figures out of the park, but there is always just something that holds them back a bit.

T-1000 - the hands look HUGE.
T-800 - the body is too large for Arnold at that time.
Iron Man - all of them look too slim to have a human inside of them except Mark I.

A-Dev, thank you.
:1-1:
I can´t even express how hard you touched my geek heart there.
That´s the reason why this one will most likely be my figure of the year too.

Figure of the year is definitely up for debate but I think we all agree HT takes company of the year!!
