you'd probably have to apply lots of heat from a hair dryer to get it to fit to the Avengers head.

yea I wouldn't risk it to be honest. You might get the helmet to fit over the head but then taking it off would most likely be worse and cause potential damage to the paint since it wasn't designed for that sculpt. If you're one who it keen on having just 1 Thor figure, then I'd get the sculpt/hlemet of the new figure from the next movie and pop that head on your Avengers Thor if you want the helmeted look.
