Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Question is... 2 weeks for reveal or another 5/6 weeks like black widow

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I argue for a company like HT, which is very small and run by the people who started it, it's all about making what they want to make. Doing that requires them to make money… you can clearly see sometimes they make stuff that isn't a big money maker and I'd argue it's because it's something they as a company want to make.

Regardless at the end of the day that still means they can only make stuff thats financially feasible to make. I'm not going to be seeing Dead or Alive 2 (the Miike movie not the game) figures anytime soon as much as I'd like to. Same is true for a lot of stuff like even 80's Tron figures or just most things that don't have some current BIG movie or game to support them.

Like I said there's some exceptions to that. I just count my blessings when the whims of Hot Toys, pop culture, and my personal interests line up.

On the actual subject at hand, the Mark VII looks fantastic so far. I'm most excited (and worried) to see just what you can do with it in terms of removable pieces and battle damage.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

X-Men FC worldwide box-office take: $353,624,124
Green Lantern worldwide box-office: $219,851,172
Expendables worldwide box-office: $274,490,374

Avengers worldwide box-office: $1,400,983,182(and counting)

If you were a business, that say... WANTED TO MAKE MONEY... which one of the above lines would you cancel, and which one would you produce every major character for?

Hmmm, i think Avatar make more than Avengers though, and Hot Toys hasn't made every major character so B.O can't mean everyhing

Well there ya go, where's all the Avatar figures HT? :lol

I understand the Box Office arguement, but if Avengers didn't make this much and actually flopped does that make it undeserved of figures or have less fans?

Same question could be asked of the Iron Man line, Let's imagine they made Pepper as their second figure and it tanked, according to people using the Box Office Argument Hot toys would view that flop to mean there isn't interest and money to be made from that line, they'd have lost out because they didn't persevere & continue. That happened to Watchmen and is possibly happening to lines with un-made figures & untapped potential IMO.

True, but then again, demand, marketability and established fan base factor in as well. Purely going off box office, my Jack and Rose HT MMS DX figures, alas, have not been announced(sarcasm).

But then, what about Avatar? Well, let's see:
Box office - check
Marketability - sure(but just look how well the lower tier toy-makers Avatar products flew off the shelves at Target and Wal-Mart compared to Avengers and TDKR in that same market)
Established fan base - uhh, no one knew what a Na'vi was till the movie came out I'm guessing
Demand - well, I wouldn't mind a shelf full of blue people, but I'm guessing Hulk, IM, Cap, and Thor are on more want lists than Jake Sully and, uhh, what's her name again... ahh, that made my point too :exactly:

Hot Toys, even though it's catered towards higher end collectors, still wants to make money - and you don't have to look too far beyond what franchises sell at Toys R Us to know which licenses they're going to push the hardest.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

marvel properties have crossover appeal where as something like a stand alone movie does not. this is why you are seeing so many marvel figures as apposed to anythign else from HT atm.

the bay for the leg missles and whatever else is under the normal armor. the silver pods are just for the extra weapon load out. pretty much everything on the mark VII that is uncolored metal is representing an unfinished addition to the hodge podge armors of the IV and VI. hench jarvis saying this mark was still not tested or ready.

at least thats how i understood it in my mind lol

That's true, i have cap, wolverine, Spidey and Blade posed together, but there isn't many, in fact any of the other Marvel properties up for order right now

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I've never liked the mix of silver and gold. I hope in IM 3 they lose that. I'm sure this figure will be really nice Im going to pass and keep my IV. Speaking of IM 3, I would love to see a glimpse of Stark working on an Ultimate Suit.

i think thats one of the reasons i prefer the MK IV over the VI

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Well I guess this is NOT a DX like I had hoped since no DX logo in the teaser- so much for the armor delivery pod being included....

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Looking forward to the full reveal on this one. Wonder if it will feature switch-out battle-damaged parts like the IM2 Mark VI?
