I just can't help but think that the Mark VII sculpt has only a passing resemblance to RDJ. It's a wonderful sculpt, completely embodies Tony Stark, but I just have to try really hard to see RDJ in it. I'm hoping when I have it in hand I can see RDJ better.

I completely agree. The eyes and nose are way off. RDJ has fairly large eyes and HT never seems to get that right. He also does not have a narrow nose as they always depict (the MT Tony Head was better about this)

I don't understand these comments. Is there any proof whatsoever that these actors are picky about headsculpt likenesses?

???????????????????????

Back in the mark III BD PO, HT showed a new RDJ head. But during the release, they gave a rehashed mark II head instead. A lot of collectors complained on their fb page and they said that the new head wasnt approved by RDJ despite giving him a few new heads to choose from, since they were under a tight schedule, they used the already approved mark II head for the mark III bd. but they were very gracious in saying that whoever feel cheated, are allowed to cancel their PO and get their $ back.

Link to that by any chance? How is it never mentioned then that he picks them out? I find that unlikely. They changed the sculpt for the IM3 Tony Stark due to fans not liking it.

It's been a few years, Its gonna be hard to find that link now. Some of the older members who collect HT back in 09-10 might remember. Or perhaps you can go through the mark III BD thread and read it.

I am really anxious like a lot of us here to get this figure released already.

I am really hoping that it gets released in HK this weekend and we get some in hand pics from OMG. If that happens then we here in the States should get ours about 2 weeks or so after.:impatient::impatient:

Seems very likely we should see him released Friday. We've seen him displayed and seen the box for him so I would imagine the OMG :panic::panic::panic: should be coming soon.

Dude, some of them won't even approve them at all. Hence we don't have a John Hurt sculpt on the Alien Kane figure.
Actors have to approve likeness of every officially licensed toy with a new headsculpt. It's more than likely written into RDJ's contract with HT.

Though I wasn't a member of Freaks back then, I do, indeed, recall the news of RDJ's strict approval standards. And I use the word, "news," because I believe the discussion stemmed from a comment by HT, itself. I, too, am unable to provide a link, but even in the event that it turned out to be vacuous gossip, know that Hydeous isn't drawing from thin air.

It's really interesting, I wish we knew more about it. I'm sure there's lots of legalese and it probably changes significantly from film to film with each contract, which makes me question using it as a universal reason for likeness issues.

Holy moses!
That's Benjamin Bratt?
How time has ravaged his once youthful countenance.
