PI or any company will only be competition to a certain degree. They'll never be able to make the same characters in the same scale at the same time. License restrictions won't allow it.

Thats why both 1/6 mark VII PI figures were only available in Singapore.

so HT has exclusivity for certain 1:6 figs? sounds like a monopoly to some degree

it would be a monopoly if one company had all exclusivity. their licensing only allows them to make certain figures. if they pay more, they can make more. i'm sure their agreement has many different options sure to fit any manufacturers budget. :lol disney doesn't mess around when it comes to making money on merchandising.

its a huge monopoly, thats why HT buys up licenses and buries them, so no one else can get them and compete (Greenlantern, Back to the future, etc..) and when competition does show up (play imaginative license for "Diecast 1/6) HT miraculously announces " Hey were doing Diecast 1/6 (cheaper) and buries them...

its no different them hasbro having the 6inch and 3/34 scale marvel license.
its not a monopoly because marvel has chosen who they wanted to have the license based on who is willing to pay what they ask.

its essentially just buying in to a contract term. marvel is still the one in control of the property

they do get exclusivity... but they only make figures that they think will sell, then the pay a percentage to either the actor or studio (depending on who holds likeness rights). but they get the 1/6 license for that entire line of whatever it may be

ALL exclusivity. all scales, all characters...everything!!! that's a monopoly. highest bidder gets the most desirable license. nothing new.

they get the entire 1/6 license, thats exclusive, no one else can legally make 1/6 anything in regards to that license... you dont consider that exclusive?

exclusive for the one sixth scale. how about 1/5...1/4...1/2 and 1:1 scale. still much money to be made. i wonder if 1/6 scale is the most expensive license because it has the most sales potential? oh well, i'll leave that to the people in HK.

I think as long as it's a different scale a different company can make figures. Enterbay has Terminator 2 in 1/4 & HT has it in 1/6. That's why we'll see competing BD T800s.
