Nothing is perfect. But, many people are acting like this figure is a failure and anytime someone says otherwise they get a stupid picture as a response or a smart *** comment.

I agree. Collectors have gotten awfully snobby and nitpicky about almost every piece that comes out. I get that it's expensive, but you do have the right to not purchase it if the eyes bug you THAT much. :)

I am kinda losing interest in my Avengers Hot Toys. I guess because I don't have the whole set yet, they are taking so long to be released, they cost a lot of money, and I only really got into it for the Black Widow figure. I am seriously contemplating if I want to sell off my figures. Not really looking for a profit or anything. Just trying to at least make back what I paid for them.

Right now I own Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, and Thor. I also have the Bat Pod. I have preordered Iron Man VII, Hulk, and Catwoman. The only one I payed more than the Sideshow Toys list price is Hawkeye since I bought that one off of Ebay.

If I decide to sell them I will not even open the Iron Man VII, Hulk, and Catwoman box when I receive them.

If I was to keep any I would probably keep Black Widow and Catwoman (if she looks as good as the prototype).

I guess that main reason for this post is to get advice and see what you guys think I should do?

No, just the faceplate. Something HT didn't need to mess with, and now it looks like ****.

:exactly:

Really nice mod Boomix made on the faceplate. Unfortunately i don`t have the guts or skills yet to do this myself :(
I`ll have to live with big eyes and huge mouth gap when i get mine..

Jbolt, you have hawkeye, who is the hardest one to find. I would continue if I were you. This hobby is about patience ane money. Ive completed a second set of avengers minus nick fury because I loved Avengers. I want to have these figures all over my house recreating different scenes from the movie. Thats me, but you need to ask yourself what you want.

It is your collection and if you are starting to loose interest then you should go with what you are typing. If you think you could be spending your money better for other things, keep the pieces you want and liquidate the rest.

You seem level headed enough to not overpay for figures and getting wrapped up with the hyping that goes on so much with these toys. Just don't take these dollies too seriously and buy what you like. It's just stuff.

if you are expecting perfection just because you spent a little more, you guys are in the wrong hobby.

....i dont even know why some of you would still be collecting at this point since every HT figure ever released as had some form of inaccuracies to the source material. its like watching people in horrible relationships stay in them because they dont know where else to go and thrive off of the drama of conflict :cuckoo:

Same here, I am sure i would F it up if i messed with it. Luckily I think it looks great without the mod.

For the past seven years or so, i have been making model kit master patterns.
These are of the garage kit variety, hand made to plans i had to make myself, or eyeballing the design from a movie or TV show myself.
Some were verging on the 95% accurate level, others were less successful due to a lack of reference(Or enthusiasm) on my part.
In any case, you always hit a deadline and have to lock down what you have and get it out there.
I'm not trying to be an apologist for HT, but there will always be two camps with the consumers. Half will like the base item and will very much look forward to adding that extra 5% accuracy.
And the other half will complain it's not accurate enough.
No side of the arguement is wrong and, as consumers, if you lay down your cash, you have a right to grumble.
As for the eyes.
I just went back to the beginning of the thread to see who first mentioned the eyes.
The award goes to Spanbauer. He called it in July last year.
Anyone who thinks complaining to HT now will make a difference, good luck with that, lol.
On an unrelated note, the helmet and eyes look terrible.

Man Bone you are going to have to snap a pic of your box porn one day. I think you are the only ******* crazier than me buying up figures. Love to see your storage room with all of your boxes in it.
Mine is rediculous, so I know yours has to be funny as hell to see too given we have only been collecting these for last year or so.

it still looks way better than that picture

I know.
It's funny to take a little trip back to last july. Some of the outlandish ideas people had for the reason that collarbone part was put on the outside of the chest piece were laughable.
They were all convinced the chest was hanging low and there were pieces missing.
It's the fun of speculation, and more than half the people were complaining about it not being up for pre-order yet.
If only we had known back then that we'd be waiting more another year.

Hot toys do what hot toys do. A few years ago there was evidence of them making changes based on what was being complained about on this forum and others. They were listening or perhaps watching their audience, now that's gone. It's just about the cash. If their products are selling they won't change anything, they are, so they won't. They allocate a certain amount of time to lock down a sculpt, get it approved and then move to next phase. They abandon a project when they get license approval, there have only been a very small number of occasions where they have improved projects from proto to production in recent years. Now they tend to hide bad product until the last moment and then rush it out to avoid bad press (Indy, DX Luke).

They knew damn well this head was off. They just didn't want to spend more time and money on it to fix it. And certainly they knew of the inevitable 2.0 version, so why fix the first one? Make it perfect and no one will want another...

the "problem" (if you even want to view it as one) isnt just HT, its the people that continue to complain then buy the damn things anyway acting like HT made them make their horrible purchases

I went ahead and bought 2 extra faceplates on Ebay. I will do the Boomix mod on those. One with BD and the other clean. This way I can still have unmodified faceplates that come with my Mark7 in case I sell later.

These kind of mod and customization posts are great for giving other members ideas.
Thanks again Username, and Boomix. Keep the pictures and details coming please.:)

Dead on. That's where my comments are originating from. I know that HT is going to fux up something on purpose. It is a given, they are smart and know sheepies will buy what they put out. My gripe is they messed with the head so much and I am sure if pressed are saying it was done this way to let the head look up more.

But geesh, they have made so many armors now with the same size mouth and eyes to do this is just a giant FU. You'll take it and love it. Tough titays.
