Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Yeah I agree. But why would they be in such a hurry, I don't get it?

There are many possible sources of stress. Maybe their items arrived in SD late, maybe they had to fix some due to damage, maybe there were not enough people to set everything up in time, maybe they misplaced things and found them too late to set them up properly, maybe they had their interns do it :dunno

But all that matters is the full release.

Good points but how could they allow the display to be like that for several days? Correct me if I am wrong?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Because laziness > everything else.

I agree, look at the plans for anicon alone. You can tell that HT wants to display their collectibles in the best way possible.

At SDCC it was almost like they were just thrown into a display with no real concern for how they looked. I agree with an earlier post which stated that SS probably just wanted to display things that they are trying to move, like the old predators.

I think the past few years, HT has kind of stolen the show a little bit and I'm not too sure how pleased SS is with that.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I can tell you it wasn't laziness as to why some didn't like the setup. If it was SS setting them up then I know that they had some issues right before preview night opened up. So they may have set them up and done the best they can, and before someone says just fix it later comic-con is too damn busy to fix things sometimes. Also food for though but last year at sdcc hot toys themselves set up their little part of the booth. I didn't see them this year but I would feel safe going with that they did that again this year.

I think that you have made a very important - and correct - observation there. I agree with your sentiment.

The trouble is this...What did they really expect to happen? It is, I assume with very little argument, that I can say that HOT TOYS is probably the biggest and best 1/6 scale figure maker in the world.

Don't get me wrong, SSC has some really great figures out and in the works - my very first DARTH VADER figure will be the 'coming soon' SSC version - and indeed our very first figure ever in the world of 1/6 scale collection was of the lovely 007 BOND line, so we have a really soft spot spot for SSC in general.

But when you ally yourself with a company like HT and make yourself their main US distributor...specially with the recent, impressive 18 months they have been having (Spiderman III, Iron Man, Thor, Cap A, Batman (Nolan), Batman (Burton), Avengers) a lot of the light is going to shine on the them and not you. It's to be expected to some extent.

SSC really need to kick out what they have in full force...the 1/6 scale DC Comics BATMAN range and SUPERMAN, their soon to be DARTH VADER, their superb PF figures (not my personal favourites, I prefer articulation, but I can certainly still see the appeal) and totally blitz their own web site and FB page.

So it can only be down to sloppiness then. Who would take responsibility for that? We are here in the IRON MAN thread...who would take responsibility for the IRON MAN figure's state?

Is it better to show no figure at all and wait to get it right (like in this recent mag spread)?

Or...

Is it better to put out a half-arsed, rushed, badly assembled, pieces-missing figure to a flood of hostile responses from pee'ed-off fans on the SSC own forum page?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

It was good to have it there. The typical over the top reaction by most ht collectors would happen no matter what. As someone who was at comic-con I'm glad they had it there and didn't even notice the little piece that was missing.

so other than the missing chest piece, howd the figure look in person? actually, how did all the figures look in person? I wasn't able to go this year although San Diego is only an hour drive from where I live :gah:

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I was too impressed by it to notice the missing piece. IMO its the best looking iron man figure yet. Honestly, all of the, looked so much better in person than the promo pics we've seen.

Na I would come in the day of the computer show at LV. Why I didn't set it up. I did look at my items. If I didn't like it. I would fix it. The we are to busy is lame. I was there but did not go in. Got called in, cash 1st. Still it's a pro type not a shipping model live with it.

Well at least we know this is going up this week for pre order. Just leaves Hulk now for me.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Looks good and that little hologram is a kinda cool little extra too.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

This figure looks really, really good. I know it seems like a long shot, but wouldn't it be awesome if this came with BD parts and a RDJ headsculpt?
