"Your a scalper! No your the scalper!"

You can tell the truth or you can lie. No one can tell the difference on forums so whats the point. Trolls, go to the troll forum.

 There was no trolling and no one was calling anyone else a scalper. It was a legitimate question and something completely open for discussion in a thread devoted to what will likely become a very expensive figure in a very short time.

Some of the pictures that I took earlier at AC..

Will try to post some more if I can find better pictures from my camera..

Superb pictures man, thank you for taking the time to post it. Yeah, it's settled, this is a must buy. I'm ready for it sideshow!

Or just don't scalp. Then no one's the scalper.:banana

Is it considered scalping to sell to someone at a higher price to someone who has no chance of buying it at retial value in another country?

And for the record I do NOT plan on selling my figure if I do get one.

I have the Mark VII EX on pre-order and will hopefully be able to snag this one. Most likely I will sell the first one since I prefer this piece, and if I can get more than I paid for the EX I don't see a problem if someone is willing to pay the markup.

I'd say so, yes. Isn't that pretty much what will happen with the Play Imaginive figures?

Anyhoo, back to the figure, I WANT IT!!

Completely agree. Everyone wins in this situation.

I just think since we're a community of hobbyists we should be cool and consider whether or not it's really necessary to own more than one of a limited figure when someone else who perhaps didn't get there on time missed out.
That's why when I sell on the marketplace I always have my figures at a reasonable price instead of insane costs.
"Be cool to people and people might be cool to you."

That is really cool that you do that and sure those have bought from you in the past appreciate it greatly.:clap :)

However, I feel, if I have something that is worth $500-I want $500!:lecture

If something is worth 500 then you're probably not going to sell it. There have been sellers on the marketplace thread with figs for sale with "worth" prices and rarely do they ever sell something. You can really only sell things for what someone is willing to pay for it. Selling in this hobby is closer to a pawn shop than a retail outlet.

Just me, personally, I think it's silly to buy two of a figure just so you can have two poses. Part of the fun of this hobby is that you can change up the figure and swap out stuff to freshen things up.

Selling it would only depend on: A) If I still wanted it B) If I needed the money :lecture

And of course, you can ask whatever price you want for a figure-doesn't mean it's worth that much. But with this figure it will be worth more than retail value very fast. Generally, it takes time for figures value to rise, but since this figure will most likely be very limited, it's value will rise as soon as it is sold out.

Scalping charges that one buys a product with the significant majority, if not entirety, of her motivation in doing so as being the intent to sell the product for more money than was required for her, herself, to purchase it.

So if you ("you," meaning someone in general) buy this Mark VII on behalf of someone in a market that will not be receiving a batch of these figures, then rock on; you have done a kind deed for a stranger.

If you buy this Mark VII on behalf of someone in a market that will not be receiving a batch of these figures, and then sell it to that person for profit, then you have done a kind deed in the eyes of the buyer, but you have scalped the person, nonetheless.

Geographical exclusion has nothing to do with the decision to sell an item for more than what you paid for it. A buyer might be grateful for the opportunity to be scalped, but the person is still being scalped. 'Guess consumerism is kinda similar to Stockholm Syndrome in that regard. :lol

Thank you for your great photos, by the way, reuters! :duff

Ok I have a question for you guys:

If a collector were to get this figure for lets say $250 retail price. And it sells out in a couple of days. And someone missed the chance to get it either because it sold out too quickly or they were in a country where they could not purchase. And would spend lets say $500 for it. Would the collector be in the wrong to sell it to the person who missed out on it for whatever reason at a higher price?

Depends on the time frame involved, if we're talking days then 'you' obviously didn't really want the figure in the first place if you're so willing to sell it at a profit so quickly so in this situation I wouldn't think fondly of you

If we're talking months then no, prices fluctuate
