Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

He finally came in today! Truly spectacular!

I am really not a fan of the base though.... thing is just plain MASSIVE and the flight stand is just too long. I had the same feelings when it came to the Jor-El Stand.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Loving all the new pics, modded and stock. Glad everyone is liking him.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Just got my HT Man of steel figure and I'm waiting for tony's cape to get here. I saw that youtube video on how to mod the shoulders without opening up the back of the suit so I'll try that as well but very carefully. Not sure it's been shown by someone yet but has anyone posed their figure in front of a big safe door like this movie still?

I think a background may have been photoshopped, but it's quite a ways back.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

FINALLY got my MOS Sups today. Like the Jor-El, this is a stunning sculpt in hand. The suit is mind-blowing well executed. I love these stands; they look imposing on the shelf together. I wasn't going to get ZOD, but now I have to have all three together. I really enjoyed this movie and eagerly await the Sups-bats film.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Just got my Man of Steel in today! It's been a long wait! Had a bit of a QC issue with one of the hip linings slightly coming away from the suit, but I glued it down a bit so it's not too noticeable now. Overall, a pretty decent figure! Some pics I took :)

The old and the new :)

Can't get much more musuem than this!! LOL!!! :)

Cavill looks like the older brother due to his height! I should pose mine together like that! :clap

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Got my Tony Meis cape in. Now to mail my MoS to be modded. Don't have the Cojone's to do it.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Reeves is listed at 6 feet, 4 inches in height. Cavill is 6 feet, 1 inch. Ummm does any one here know why Hot Toys drastically messed up the scale here? Any one here have a logical answer? Are we expecting future products to increase in size as well? As much as I love this figure, there is no way I can pose him near Reeves or even Batman without him looking oddly massive.

Maybe HT factored in the height with the boots on

Wow, if I had those boots on, I could take on Kevin Durant in a pick up game.
New scale? Is that something HT officially stated? Looks like a screwed up scale which I hope this will be the only one.

Long story short, he scales out to about 1/6 scale. And measuring other figures, they are scaling out to 12" scale(Guys are 12", gals and just over 10").
It's looking like HT *might* be making figures from now on in scale.
Also, Cavill was wearing special lifts for the movie. In function, they kind of looked like heels. There was a flat heel. His toes were on the ground and his heels were raised up within the boot to give him extra height.
If you look at the shape of the MOS boot you can see how they did it.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I just think they made this new body for the suit and didn't think about the scale much while doing it. The torso is much longer than any other body they make to try and get the suit to look accurate.

Just my theory. They f'ed up.

I concur. I would rather a fantastically proportioned out of scale body though then a weird looking in scale body. I know we shouldn't have to pick one over the other, but I think HT should be applauded for really trying to make this guy look so good. The proto was horrendous IMO.

Based on what Barry?
Haven't seen anything else so far in this scale? :dunno

Spot on. I don't think anyone I their right mind can say that this figure turned out anything but spectacular.

But the whole "it's a new scale" theories are baseless.

he's probably referring to the Roadblock figure, seems to be similar to MOS in a standard kind of way. I don't know if that means hes in true scale

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I understand if Hot Toys is basing the MOS figure on the stats of the character of Superman, not the actors of Henry Cavill (6'1") or Christopher Reeve (who just so happened to match Superman's "official" height of 6'4")

I can't find any stats on RoadBlock the character's height, but Duane Johnson is 6'5"....let's see if his figure is taller than MOS Supes in the "new scale"

Also, if the pre-MOS male figures are 12", isn't that 1/6 scale for a 6" tall man? If MOS Superman is based 1/6th based on a 6'4" (76") character, he's supposed to be about 12 and 2/3" tall, right? Is he taller than that?

There are no 6" men, lol.
But what about a character based on a 5'6" man? If the HT version was also 12", it would point to the 12" scale.

If MOS Superman is based 1/6th based on a 6'4" (76") character, he's supposed to be about 12 and 2/3" tall, right? Is he taller than that?

He's just a shade under 13"

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I agree. For the most part ht figures were scaled to a 12" figure for everyone. As of late, I'd say the last few years, they have tried to take into consideration the height of the actor or character.

The old Jack sparrow figure is a good example. Johnny Depp is 5'9" but the first release was scaled to 12". The DX sparrow was closer to the actors actual height. Using smaller bodies for smaller characters has been their MO.

Captain America TFA came with alternate foot pegs to make him taller since they had not designed a body with long enough legs to make him the actors proper height of 6'1". After putting the taller pegs on he is scaled to the right height for his movie alter ego.

But lately they, and I mean HT, has been scaling figures a bit screwy. ASM was scales way too short. They used a new configuration of the slim tryetype but should have given him longer legs like the ones they used for Red Skull. He would have been the proper height for his movie version instead of the shorter Toby McGuire height that his figure should have had.

I modify most of my figs so it's not a big deal for me if it's a bit out of scale. And when it's a figure like superman it often times gets overlooked because the character himself is supposed to be taller than the actor portraying him.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I finally got around to looking at the 1/6 and 1/1 scale command keys included with this figure and was surprised to see this:

I contacted Hot Toys and they promptly told me that there is nothing they can do and that I should email BBTS instead. Of course BBTS cannot replace certain parts and they will ask me to return the entire order. I was hoping Hot Toys would allow me to send this key back and exchange it for a new one.
