Knowing me I'll probably end up getting both but it's just an thing I have where I can have one figure on my shelf at a time.

I'm leaning towards ROTJ Luke since that's more iconic but I'm having a hard time looking past the TLJ sculpt which is 99% there for me in terms of accuracy (honestly, I haven't been this blown away by a sculpt in a long time) relative to ROTJ which is about 70% give or take.

I don't think the demand for TLJ Luke is that high so I'm willing to wait for the price to go down but we'll have to see.

And no, this will be my first Luke.

Debating between this or Last Jedi hobbit Luke. What do you guys think?

Between those two I’d have to go with ROTJ. I’ll be getting the Crait/Force Projection/whatever you want to call him whenever that comes out, if I had to choose between those two it’s be a much tougher choice.

ROTJ Luke will sell out and increase in value on the secondary market.

Hobo alien ***** loving depression failure Luke will likely go on sale at a lot of places.

Luke is my favourite character so I'm getting both of them, but if I had to pick just one it would definitely be the ROTJ version, as like others have said it's the definitive look for him and more iconic :)

This is the only Luke I need to have in my collection. My favorite look, and Luke at his best.

I considered getting the ANH version, but then I would've wanted the rest of the ANH group too (Leia, Han & Chewie, & Ben). I still want a Han & Chewie, but I prefer ESB Bespin Han with jacket & brown pants. And Chewie still leaves a lot to be desired. Waiting foe the best version other wise I would've just got the ANH version.

I would think about what the costume's represent.

ROTJ Luke represents the culmination of Luke's journey from farmboy to Jedi Knight.

TFA/Early TLJ Luke represents Jedi Master Luke.

TLJ "Hobbit" Luke represents Force rejecting Luke.

TLJ Final Duel Luke combines Jedi Luke and Master Luke outfits together as sort of Ultimate Luke.

Based on what it represents in the movie, I think the Hobbit Luke figure isn't worth owning, I was leaning towards getting the 4" before the movie but thankfully didn't buy one before I saw it and now I could care less, I have the white robes and I'm holding out for an Ultimate version.

Of the two you're debating, I think ROTJ represents the better place in Luke's life.

The really need to include a non-LED gloved hand that can hold the lightsaber, those arms are a pain in *** to get in. It also seems like a huge oversight on Hot Toys part. Does anyone even use the LED functions anyway?

I had a bad experience with them when I got my ANH Luke, and I never bothered with them again. The stupid thing wouldn't even light up at certain angles.

For me the Hobbit Luke is worth getting as it represents how the character looked for the majority of his final appearance, and who the character actually was at this point of his life and where he was at emotionally (versus the younger idealized fantasy of himself we saw at the end).

Plus I like how it's a return to the kind of practical, everyday outfit we first saw him wear in ANH. Which seems kind of appropriate somehow.

Yeah, the coming full circle for Luke is one of the things I appreciate (from a story-telling point of view) in TLJ. From a quiet "farmboy" life staring at the two setting suns and wanting to see so much more, to actually seeing so much unfold (good and bad) all across the galaxy, and then back to a quiet life (with another gaze into the two setting suns, maybe reflecting on the whole journey). Someone posted the idea of having the Luke figures in a display to show the character progression from farmboy, to jedi-in-training (Dagobah/Bespin), to Jedi Knight (ROTJ), to Jedi Master (Crait look), and back to farmboy/man ("hobo" Luke). You could even cap it off with TFA Luke with legs crossed. I'd love to see someone do a display like this someday.

I really like how the TLJ outfit looked in general. But I think my favorite scene with it was when he's explaining the failure of the Jedi to Rey in the temple area near that little pond thing, and he's talking about how he was "Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master - a Legend"

I hope they do. I'm leaning more towards they probably will.

Then you also have the people who may possibly want to display him in his Jedi tunic on Jabba's sail barge, with the saber lit up. They'd also need to fabricate a non-gloved LED hand.

I hope so. If they don't, hopefully it won't be too hard to find a hand that works lol

Did you see the sideshow that just came out deluxe edition. Don't like the sculpt. Sticking with this one all the way!

I agree that the head sculpt isn't as strong as the Hot Toys version, the hair sculpt looks a little better. Since it's SSC, who knows if the final product will look as good. I just pre-ordered it off BBTS. I really wish the Hot Toys version came with the Endor poncho and helmet, kinda nice that the SSC version offers that, as well as the rest of the stuff the Hot Toys version comes with, and for about the same price. And, it seems to have all the hands everyone wants with the Hot Toys version.

Yeah your right about SS final product. And know I won't be disappointed with the hot toys one. Threw me off at first thought hot toys popped out another version. Lol
