The more I look at it the more I'm preferring the Sideshow figure. The Hot Toys expression looks kind of dead and lifeless, and . . . that hair. But, I have a feeling the tailoring on the HT figure is going to be better, even though I'm gonna display him in his basic duds, no tunic, with MAYBE the cloak and that's it. The Endor stuff would probably never make it out of the box, and the tunic will probably stay in there with it, as would the HT tunic.

I really like Hot Toys version but when I zoom in the head sculpt does look more like Luke on Sideshow version. The paint on Hot Toys is better and comes off less toyish or cartoonish...not sure how to describe it. I look at picture of Hot Toys and that could be mistaken for real person. Sideshow you don’t have that level of reality but either way...it’s great we’re getting these great options of one of my personal grail figures.

Hot toys just can’t do mark hamill, or young ford for that matter (old ford is great though). The best to date is still dx07 bespin luke but the paint on that isn’t as good as today’s paint jobs. They’d be better off pulling that bespin sculpt out of the storage cabinet and just repainting that one from now on. I want a rotj luke badly but I still haven’t ordered this cause that headsculpt, but I know in the end when it ships I’ll break down and buy it. Ssc head is a better sculpt but ssc paint app kills it, and it won’t look nearly as good as ht in hand even though the hot toys version looks less like Luke then ssc version, it won’t have a toyish paint app like ssc. Buying both seems like a great idea until you realize you just spent 500 and still don’t have a great Hamill sculpt just a lot of nice rotj accessories and costumes

I just need 1 Luke (but still like that Rebel pilot outfit of SS), so ROTJ is the perfect version to go...so Hot Toys only for me.

Now that I've stared at pics for the last 45 minutes, I'm finding that the head on the Hot Toys version looks friggin' big, and all I can see is a big-ass head with monkey lips :lol Especially in the video footage that was posted.

But . . . I know Hot Toys almost always come out better than what they initially show. So there's that.

This was so confusing to see on all the Star Wars news sites, I was wondering if HT had changed what Luke came with at first and then saw it was an SSC release which seems like a mad decision.

I'm really torn though, I don't think either nails Mark's likeness but I do actually like both figures - even if the HT's seems out of scale to me (fat head, crap hair or something) and the SCC version has a look of Tom Brady. Maybe it's just my eyes. :rotfl

Decision time. Pre-order the SCC or wait in the hope that HT release their Endor Luke and that sweet looking Endor Leia.
(Already have the HT ROTJ Luke on order but not confident on the Endor figures whilst still awaiting a Baze release.)

The sculpt in the image on the left where he's dressed in the cloak in the shadows looks to bear a pretty good likeness, but in the light with the DS outfit on in the image on the right, it looks way the **** off.

I personally just don't see what the hype is about including all of his looks from one film into one figure. You have three different outfits (I count the cloak as part of the Jedi tunic outfit) and only one figure. While on paper it seems more practical, it at the same time almost seems kind of a waste to only have the option of displaying one of them. I can see including two options with one figure, but three to me starts getting to a point where it's a case of just choose one already, so to speak. It'd be like attempting to create a package of Hoth Luke, Bespin Luke and Dagobah Luke in one. Most people seem to feel the Hoth and Bespin outfits are the most desirable looks from ESB and many would probably want both on display so it'd be a bummer if you have two cool outfits, but only one body and sculpt and have to choose only one to display at a time.

This is kind of why I like HT's option of this current Jedi Luke offering, and then the Endor offering (if it ever goes up for PO). You have two looks that are feasible with each figure and enables you to have different outfits on display at the same time if you choose to get both figures, and with a sculpt with a different expression.

Both likenesses miss the Mark (haha)

Hot Toys' amazing paint apps can't hide a poor likeness and expression. Conversely, SS's likeness suffers from bad paint apps especially with the eyes.
But at first glance, I thought the SS Luke was a figure from way back. I'd go with Hot Toys

Because it requires a payment of $235 once, instead of three times. That's the appeal.

Am I the only one that sees a subtle underbite with the SSC Luke? I love the HT even though it’s not perfect. But I can’t get over the SS sculpt.

This is the kind of figure that RPs were meant for.

That said, I'm hording my $300+ worth for HT Emperor and throne. Or Krennic with new Death Trooper 2-pack.

I was saving my RPs for the Falcon cockpit but as it appears that it won't be made, I started throwing the RPs at different figures. (Jyn in Disguise, Jack Sparrow and Neo.) I still have a little bit left for helping cut down on the price of one more figure. Possibly this HT Jedi Luke or Tarkin.

Someone pointed out that the SS Luke looks like a video game version and I agree; reminds me of Luke in Jedi Knight 2. I'm a fan of headsculpts with expressions so I really like the HT Luke head.
