They deemed it "not a prequel" to placate the idiot Fox execs. If it were a "prequel" to Alien the Fox exec's would have forced there idiot ideas into the script...

Well the jockey in Alien looked like bone so in that it was meant to be a creature that looks like that. Maybe ridley thought a different creature wearing a suite that looked like a jockey would be better. It can explain why its a bit smaller then the one in Alien.

Non the less its still awesome and cant wait! Will need to go see it in IMAX 3D! Never seen a post converted IMAX movie before so will be interesting as I will be seeing it twice.

Alien's Space Jockey was a suit. It's biomechanical, that's why it looked like fossilized bone.

I thought TDKR will be movie of the year but since Prometheus was annouced I changed my mind and after the 2 trailers today I think I am correct!

The creature looks a lot more human like then the xeno's.
Ridley said it has Alien DNA but no Aliens but does that just mean the Jockey or is the Jockey what created the Xenos.

It looks like the Derelict has a pre-hive look to the entire thing, like the organic look we see in Alien happens later.
