Re: Hot Toys: Prometheus

Regarding that picture and the creature it shows:

I dont think its a prototype of a xeno but the thing that later becomes the queen.

Wow! Seriously?! So they actually wrote it to allow for Cameron's Aliens to be possible, huh? I was totally afraid they would backstory the Alien so much that Cameron's idea would no longer be a logical next step.

Actually, it's not my drawing, but thanks.

But...I don't think it's that accurate, here are actual pics of it...and it looks quite a bit different than what I posted:

WARNING! HUGE SPOILER BELOW!

And yes...that's actually what it looks like.

Unlike most people, I love spoilers. I don't even mind knowing how it ends. It just makes me that much more excited to see it happen. Thanks for those pics. I was afraid that this movie would have nothing
resembling the Big Chap

Well after people saying no and thinking back, I might been wrong but it is similar cos of how the new thing had a extended jaw.

Re: Hot Toys: Prometheus

So far, all signs point to "sure it's a prequel if you really want it to be, but it doesn't actually make sense as one.":slap

Re: Hot Toys: Prometheus

It's not a prequel, though it's set in the same universe. What it is though is a mess. A very good looking mess, but a mess all the same. Go see it and see what you think. My own opinion is that Lindelof can't write for toffee and that they tried to move away from being a direct prequel due to their inability to resolve certain script problems. Specifically how do you resolve the audience being one step ahead of the character's? We all know the Alien's biology and life cycle, so it's hard to build in surprises. However their solution still does not work as the result is all over the place. There's enough Alien like elements that seem to be left over's from the original script, however they feel shoe-horned in and totally illogical.

Re: Hot Toys: Prometheus

Oh yeah! Now it's time for another predator film!

Oh crap. I assume you seen it then. Your summarization makes me worried for this project since I still have a week before its release here in the States. I was so hoping this film is successful. :(

The problem with today's film goers is that they need everything spoon fed to them.

The film raised more questions than it answered and left the door open for lots and debate as to what could be explored in future sequels. Nothing wrong with using our brains to think about things again.

You cheeky monkey, I do not need anything spoon feeding to me apart from my mush! At precisely six of the clock every evening. It's a good job you're a fellow scouser I tell's ya!

Seriously though It wasn't the lack of questions being answered. TBH I thought it was all pretty much straight forward. It was the staggering lack of character motivation and the stupidity of the character's that ruined it for me. Millburn & Fifield being a case in point as were the red shirt pilot's. As I said the Alien elements felt left over from Spaiht's draft. It's a shame as there's a lot of interesting stuff in there and it looks gorgeous, but for me Prometheus was a massive misfire.

Still people should go and see it and make up their own minds. It's currently rocking some very good reviews. :peace

That's actually music to my ears. As awesome as Aliens was as a movie, it was already so far from the feel of A L I E N that it took me 6 years to come around to really liking it, and then only because it was bookended on the other side by ALIEN3, which I felt was a better attempt at recreating that grimy feel of the original with lovable, disfunctional characters.

:hi5:

Prometheus's downfall (to some) was always going to be it's connections to the alien universe. Give some fans 33 years of thinking up theories and mythology it was never going to be perfect.

RIDDICK is a great example of this.

Re: Hot Toys: Prometheus

Saw this yesterday the plot is one huge mess. But what do you expect from a writer from Lost.

I still enjoyed it but this is more due to David and the visuals. The 3d was exreamly well done.

Yes the plot was far from perfect but it was not a mess imo.
I love Lost and this was nothing like it in terms of script.
Only thing in common with Lost was more questions were asked then answered. Saying that, it sounded like its what Ridley wanted as he wanted this to be a 3 parter.

Re: Hot Toys: Prometheus

I would say its a mess but that's my opinion. There where lots of people and scenes that just dint make any sense. They way people acted to each other after certain major scenes as if nothing had happened making the scenes pointless? It just dint flow and had no need for half of it. Poor writing imho.

Re: Hot Toys: Prometheus

Well I will still give it a go! Checking it out this week. :wink1:
