Back in the early 90's we all received a "Hard On" sitting in the theatres seeing a Alien skull the end of Predators 2. This told us that these two creatures existed in the same universe. This is called a fictional crossover.

There are TV shows that allow characters to guess star on the other show which gives the viewer the impression they live in the same world. An example is FRIENDS and Mad About You. The characters from Mad about you walked into Central Perk and thought they Ursela (minor role in Mad About You). It was infact Phoebe.

Jason and Freddy share the same world.
Jason and Pinhead do not.

It is not my call.....it is the legal agreement of the studio.

Alien & Predator are the same universe; Predator 2 confirmed this (to me anyway).

AVP is a different universe.

Also the term protoxenomorph revering to the alien at the end. This cannot be a proto as the Alien creature existing in 2004 in AVP (and AVP’s back story). So the “Alien” creature exists. When Prometheus first lands on the planet we could see several dome structures is the distance. Perhaps the crew entered the one that housed the liquid. The ship that took off at the end housed the egg!!!

I would not assume the AVP movies are still canon. Or maybe they're just canon in the Predators universe?

Ridley Scott does not recognize AvP at all, and I agree with him. The real Alien universe is Prometheus, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3....and maybe Alien 4. AvP is irrelevant.

I think we have to acknowledge all the movies Ripley is actually in, even #4.

The Alien skull doesn't really confirm anything because it's only reasoning for being in the movie was to promote the upcoming comic series.

And we never see an alien skull in Alien or Aliens..so.

But either way, the AvP franchise is it's own thing. It's not part of the Alien or Predator franchises.

And no way on Earth was anyone making 'Prometheus' and looking back on the AvP films and saying, 'We gotta make sure it doesn't contradict these films - they're connected like 'Alien' is connected.' They were cheap, thoughtless cash-ins. Taking them into consideration when making an 'Alien' film would be like tying a dead dog to your leg at the start of your workday - no good can come from it and no one even thinks about doing it.

It makes more sense for AVP to exist in the Predator universe. Preds could still hunt aliens in both. Aliens don't need Preds atall.

It's an easter egg for those who knew about the comics I guess. But you'd find out in a few months/years when the comics come out anyway.


..but the point is, that's the reason the skull was in the trophy case. For the new comic series.

Agreed, I want a sequel.
I think the film has a lot of problems, but I enjoyed it, and I want to take the ride and see where it leads us.

I too, have my fingers crossed for a sequel! I will be disappointed if there is only one.
