Yeah, I've heard that too. I'm hoping its not true otherwise there is genuine reason to complain about the inconsistencies. Maybe Vader walking through that smoke in the trailer gets him dirty and mattes up his armour lol.

It's addressed in the movie.

Haha. Just hard when this gets revealed over a year after we first see the 1/4 scale. Me wants a HT shiny ANH style-ish Vader...but me wants it 1/4 scale.
Will have to wait...

I have held off on the Vader PF because of the 1/4 HT hope, might just order the PF tomorrow with that 50$ off coupon that expires.

Also still waiting on that Falcon Cockpit as well

Looks good but I'll stick with ANH one. This one has an ep3 feel to it and it appears too skinny. Cod piece looks off as well.

Like anything, he needs to be properly futzed.

But once that's done, this is easily the best 1/6 Vader out of the box. Easily.

And I say that as a HUUUUGE ANH Vader fan. Sure this guy doesn't have all the cool rough and tough weathering on the helmet, but they fixed so many of the other issues/innacuracies that I definitely prefer this guy over their ANH release. It's much easier to add a little weathering than all the mods people had to do to really get a decent ANH look from the first version.

We don't know specifically yet but

(Mild spoiler because we don't know specifics)

There were supposedly two different versions of the suit on set. This one and the ANH version. It is rumored that at some point in the film he needs to change his suit for whatever reason. Damaged, or just for a cool scene of him having pieces applied. But this all could have been before the reshoots so it might not even be in the film now

That was my original thinking as well, and if someone can get good results turning it into a ANH Vader I might reconsider getting one. I guess the first thing to know is if it's even possible to put the tunic over the chest armor in the first place. I heard something earlier about there possibly being some velcro sewn in to hold the armor better, but not sure if that was true or not...

I'm actually more interested in seeing the mods that people do to turn this into an ANH Vader and what that looks like, than the actual figure itself out of the box. Even though the figure looks great and I'm sure it's how he looks in the film (R1), I'm not feeling that pleated tunic.

Yeah...the pleats aren't supposed to be actual pleats but just three stitched areas that cinch the center above the belt...

Has Darth Cod started shipping yet? I'm down for one. So glad I waited and didn't bite on the ANH version with the pillsbury gloves.

Hot toys actually included a blade with the saber..coincidence I thought there wasn't supposed to be sabers in this film..hmm..maybe a teaser :dunno

So I'm wondering what are the chances HT decide to do an exclusive Rogue One Vader version. They've done it for the Death trooper and for Donnie Yangs character. Maybe the exclusive will have the lightsaber and a cooler base with a Rebel Helmet next to it. Now that would be awesome !!

Vader will not fight with the rebels so none of that will happen. Mark my words.

This could explain the costume change:
