I wish the movie was better. This guy would look sick next to Iron Man Mk I.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Now pay your licensing rights, hire artists to sculpt a head, design a 1/6 body, design very elaborate packaging and get it printed and manufactured, make 3,000 of them, get them distributed to various vendors all over the world, pay for marketing, and dont forget to pay yourself and your employees plus rent for your office space, and if you can do all that for under $150 per figure, then Hot Toys should hire you to run their company...:lol

Once again, factors that ALL existed a few months ago; before the price hike.

TFA Captain America - Late 2011 - $160

Avengers Captain America - Late 2012 - $220

Same company, same licence, same actor. Every single variable in the situation is the same. So explain the price difference.

Im not going to go into the comparison to my customs as no one could seriously compare a mass marketed figure to a hand made exclusive. Anyone could see its an "apples and oranges" situation.

Ya guys think BBTS will get any of this in stock or is this strickly a Sideshow SDCC exclusive item?

The pirce is not that bad, on par with Hot toys prices as of this quarter.

I don't think he's disputing the work that goes into these, but they did do them for $150 why does it now cost $220?

IMHO Cap was the second best superhero film after X-Men First Class from last year

Somebody said that AE said they weren't and this was only a SSC figure. But they said that last year until they didn't sell out and they then moved to other retailers aswell :wave

IMHO Cal was the second best superhero film after X-Men First Class from last year

Personally preferred Thor to both (still only seen First Class the once though)

in my eyes even better

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I just looked at an old custom thread of yours. You were able to negotiate KatoE to make some clothing, roughly in the $200-$230 price range for each.

hmmm...thats more than than an entire HTs figure of the new Fury, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Exclusive Iron Man, Exclusive Cap, Thor, Cap.....do i need to keep going?

And its just for clothing...

It's the old problem, those who have clear and simple ideas of how to run the world are wasting their time driving taxis.

The price hike is unfortunate. It is also inevitable and unavoidable - by which I mean if you want the piece you've got to shell out the cash.

But if you believe you can crank out figures of this quality on these licenses for $150 a pop, please feel free to start your own company. There's a gap in the market waiting for you.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

This is a forum to talk about toys. If no one expressed their opinion about these toys, whether it's price, quality, accuracy or what have you, there'd be no need to be here. Price, whether you want to hear it or not, is a hot button topic with HT, and really any of these products. It's unrealistic to expect people to be quiet about it, no matter how ridiculous, hypocritical, or hyperbolic they may seem.

Anyways, just as you can quietly not buy a product you can't afford or don't want to pay the price of, you could also quietly ignore the folks irritating you with their complaints. Then again, what would be the point of having this board otherwise, right? ;)

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Where's the logic in comparing Kato to HT?
You bet I'm charging a premium if I'm the only one doing the work.
HT is a mass production operation.

Yeah that little bit of logic escapes them........:rotfl

One being sideshow exclusive, no other competition per say hence pricing as "their" greed see fit.

Uh... yeah. You kinda missed a big old variable right there. (I've highlighted it to make it easier to spot). In case you missed it, the worldwide economy has been flushed down the cludgie (Scottish term) over the course of that year, meaning fluctuations in the currency between HK and the USA, rising materials costs, rising costs in shipping, customs, etc. All of these have an impact.

Or do people here really think Hot Toys are simply raising prices for the sheer hell of it?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I think the price hike also has something to do with sideshow being the middle man.
This is a sideshow comic con exclusive right, they might be the ones adding that extra hike because they're the only ones selling it instead of Hot Toys.

Is Asia getting any of these?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Yes, in theory, this is a convention exclusive and will be made in fewer quantities than a typical release. A smaller run would generally require a higher price tag to make up the difference.

Granted, we don't know the actual production numbers, but suffice to say HT wants their same profit margin no matter what it is.

And also, Greed. :lol

I said the "Avengers Captain America". As in an average, non-exclusive, fairly bare bones release.

This isn't just exclusives whose prices I am upset about. In fact this exclusive is actually a few dollars cheaper than all the other Hot Toys figures coming out later in the year.

I wouldn't say it being an exclusive as reason for the price is applicable as other figures that aren't exclusive have the same price.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Impossible.............

Thinking these companies sell their toys below actual cost is ridiculous. They sell them at actual cost receiving enough to "keep light on". The pics of the owners high priced automobiles are conspiracies to ruin their good name. Another tactic of those people who cannot afford the figures bashing the company. :wink1:

HKD is still pegged to USD.... has been for years and years...

from 2011 to 2012 there not significant devaluation of USD compared to other major currencies

HT may play a role.... but the official distributor is involved in pricing too...
