Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Well Last Years Batman Exclusive was $224, so technically this is cheaper than last years exclusive. Plus as i mentioned last years Batman was selling for $600 on eBay. So what would you rather do, pay $600 on eBay, or $224?

Even after the hype died down on the Exclusive Batman, he still sells regularly over $350+ on eBay, maybe more now i havent looked in a while.

So again, would you rather pay $350 or $224?

Plus HTs is not forcing anyone to buy anything. If they are too expensive for people, then just don't buy them. Like i wont buy Enterbay figures because i dont want to spend $400 on them. Pretty simple. Eventually HTs might outprice me, but i love the hobby and if I want these figures i need to pay for them. If i get outpriced, so be it. Im not going to lose sleep over it. I'll survive....:lol

Also Batman was pretty much a reissue with extra accessories.

People are so funny with, what appears to me, to be really pissed that its not good enough, too expensive, not enough stuff, wont get here fast enough, and on and on. I personally am having a ball seeing the new stuff coming out. Some I like and some not, but its such a great hobby.
Honestly, are some of you mad or is it just internet banter?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

It's not just the price--it's the fact that the price keeps increasing with every release. I don't know of any other product that can get away this.

These continual price increases are not sustainable over a long term. It seems like 1/6 is in a "golden age" of sorts where there is a level of popularity and the advances in the tech and quality of the products has drawn a lot more people into this market than has normally existed. However, IMO, this is just a fad and eventually, when the price hits a zenith, the bubble will burst and the market will crash back down to the hardest of the hardcore and those who may have been in the hobby from the beginning.

I myself am close to dropping Hot Toys and the other two "premium" brands (Medi and EB) forever, and depending on how 1/6 military goes, I may have to stop that as well.

HT are doing themselves in...in the long run it chips away at their buyers base.....so they are grabbing all the $$$ they can

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

In that case, people that are unhappy now because Hot Toy is not "limited" anymore because of the (re)releases woul be happy?

That may seem like a silver lining to those who came into the hobby after the fact, yes.

But how much will these toys be worth after the hype and the fad dies down? Will you be able to get v.1 of a release for much cheaper 5-10 years from now? Will collectors still care? Hard to say, and all we can do is speculate. Even "collector" items can fluctuate in demand...

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I pre-ordered Joker v2 as I wanted the exclusive but I haven't pre-ordered since 89 Batman and Joker last August.

I've only pre-ordered three figures for this year.

Never will understand this price complains.

If you think it´s too much, don´t buy it.

Is that simple, really.

:exactly:

Stating that it's too expensive or complaining on prices rise across the brand in the thread is fine, once. it's when it takes over the thread and becomes a big hate fest that it becomes a problem.

Ordered. This guy looks awesome. I clearly see Evans in that sculpt.

Congrats :hi5:

When the bubble burst these won't be worth squat. They are glorified action figures. Being a collector you naturally assume you'll never get back your investment being in the game to long.

People continue to delude themselves these are so extraordinary when I see Ht just putting on cruise control on the majority, not all of their releases.
Avengers are particularly low grade. Prices DO matter..you get subpar efforts for many more $$$ charged? Keep rubber stamping BOUGHT on every new HT...rather funny!

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Same boat :( this will probably be my last purchase near the release window. Either HT needs to start pricing things more reasonably or make them actual limited quantities with quality to match.

Yeah, I agree. Personally, I decided to quit on Hot Toys. Their prices are pretty absurd. Like that guy said, at the end of the day, this figure is nearly $300 dollars! I'm quitting soon... I will get a few figures, maybe a few vehicles and that's it, I'm out. Will only come back for Back to the Future and that's it.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

We've been hearing that same rhetoric for years and yet Hot Toys just keeps out churning them out and people still keep supporting them.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

And yet somehow all the people who have quit on Hot Toys keep coming back into every HT thread to rant about the prices.

I do, too. Looks more like Evans than the scowling Avengers unmasked head to me.

I'm more than fine with this figure. :hi5:

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I'm not quitting them.....just alot more selective- easy with stuff like this sculpt...I think opccasionally they do BRILLIANT work but not on every release, not even close

Agreed mostly, they are toys now not collectibles. To me collectibles means limited to a relatively small number making them rare, and one-of-a-kind.

Hot Toys does neither anymore, with that being said they are superbly detailed figures usually worth the asking price.

I do, too. Looks more like Evans than the scowling Avengers unmasked head to me.

i see Evans more in this sculpt than the Avengers one too :)

if this was the intended 2-in-1 i'd be all over it.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Well, you can "collect" anything.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I will support you guys.

I will also quit Hot Toys.

After anything Avengers related, Marvel related and Bruce Willis related, I won´t get anything for them.

Except some Prometheus, and maybe some Predators as well.

But then, after this, would be the end!

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Yeah, I already know which three figures I want this year. I am going to be strong and not get anymore. :)
