Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I was excited by this but seeing it I think I'm ok passing on it.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Yes, in theory, this is a convention exclusive and will be made in fewer quantities than a typical release. A smaller run would generally require a higher price tag to make up the difference.

Granted, we don't the production numbers, but suffice to say HT wants their same profit margin no matter what it is.

And also, Greed. :lol

Who's to say this "exclusive" doesn't have a large production run??????

Greed- period. HT wants to make as much money as they can with each release. Don't blame them. It's just not justified and transparent IMO.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Impossible.............

Thinking these companies sell their toys below actual cost is ridiculous. They sell them at actual cost receiving enough to "keep light on". The pics of the owners high priced automobiles are conspiracies to ruin their good name. Another tactic of those people who cannot afford the figures bashing the company. :wink1:

Some people don't get your sarcasm here but I do.....:rotfl

Can't take the heat? Collect something cheaper. Speak with your wallets.

I don't understand the price either, shouldn't this be $130? You get two guns, 3 pairs of hands, an outfit, and a sculpt of Chris Evans' stunt double. I think someone needs to tell Hot Toys / Sideshow that April fools was a long time ago.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

There is no "reason" in luxury items. These figs are luxury items. Simple as that.

Aren't First World problems awesome!!!

Now pay your licensing rights, hire artists to sculpt a head, design a 1/6 body, design very elaborate packaging and get it printed and manufactured, make 3,000 of them, get them distributed to various vendors all over the world, pay for marketing, and dont forget to pay yourself and your employees plus rent for your office space, and if you can do all that for under $150 per figure, then Hot Toys should hire you to run their company...:lol

ShadowX81 got schooled.

Ok. Here is a simple test to see whether you should get into a discussion about pricing of Hot Toys figures. Below are two pictures. If you can correctly identify Howard Chan, president of Hot Toys then you may enter the discussion:

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

um HTs hired KatoE to do the clothing for the new Joker 2.0. he was charging $1000 for just the suit. nothing else, but the suit. no figure, no accessories, no body....just the suit.

now yes, "mass producing" a figure with his clothing of course brings costs down, which is why the new Joker 2.0 is not like $1500. Its $274.99

Most definitely.
I'm not doubting HT has increased their prices due to many factors including increased prices in raw materials.
Just like HT, Kato charges whatever he feels his product is worth. As is the case with HT people must be buying.
I don't like the price increase and have been talking with my wallet. In the end my money will be replaced by some other collector. I'm sure it isn't affecting HT's bottom line.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

:goodpost::goodpost:i think thats the major problem here. Im not sure if anyone is old enough to understand how the world economy works. Oil prices effect the costs as well..

The economy isn't getting any better so prices will be getting worse :lol

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Good looking figure, but i feel it doesn't give me the "wow" factor to it, maybe bcoz i've already seen the leaked pic of this fig, just like the amazing spider-man figure, i guess this is the first time a ht figure get revealed other than ht themselves? :dunno:

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Uh... yeah. You kinda missed a big old variable right there. (I've highlighted it to make it easier to spot). In case you missed it, the worldwide economy has been flushed down the cludgie (Scottish term) over the course of that year, meaning fluctuations in the currency between HK and the USA, rising materials costs, rising costs in shipping, customs, etc. All of these have an impact.

Or do people here really think Hot Toys are simply raising prices for the sheer hell of it?

:goodpost::exactly:

I work at a Fire Dept and we purchased a new fire engine a couple years ago. It was $300,000, a year later the same truck would have cost $350,000 and now it would cost over $400,000 for the exact same truck.

Everything is costing more $$$$. Food, Gas, Cars, etc

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I'm with Shadow on this one. Their overhead has not increased that significantly in the course of one year. Period. That being said, I really dig this figure, and am still very tempted at the current price point. Damn you, Hot Toys.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I find this to be the best pic.

Also hot toys are very hot right now, the hottest they've been since they formed, they are raking in the cash, so surely to price their figures more reasonable to keep their market buying won't leave them taking a loss, just not as much profit and work out better longterm
