Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I will support you guys.

I will also quit Hot Toys.

After anything Avengers related, Marvel related and Bruce Willis related, I won´t get anything for them.

Except some Prometheus, and maybe some Predators as well.

But then, after this, would be the end!

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

And yet somehow all the people who have quit on Hot Toys keep coming back into every HT thread to rant about the prices.

:exactly:

It was hunnipot85 (I think) who suggested that this constant, hyperbolic criticism from certain people is just a rationalisation to cover up the gap between their income and desires.

Almost all of us have budgets. There is no shame in not being able to afford all of the Hot Toys (and other premium) figures that interest you. But instead of just quietly not buying certain figures, some people feel a need to trash Hot Toys to convince themselves it is due to poor quality.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Im sick of the whole "If you don't want to pay the price then don't buy it". I want to buy it, just at a reasonable price. Or at the very least, the same prices they were charging last year.

This isn't people complaining that they cannot afford something. This is people complaining that Hot Toys is dramatically jacking up prices for no reason other than they know that they can.
Im suprised that more people are not mad at this fact.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Sweet. This didn't sell out immediately. I had to make sure I could pre order this, before pre ordering the Avengers CA. Now both are flex'd :yess:

I'm not overly impressed with any of the CA sculpts, but this might be the best of the 3 figures. It's a nice enough sculpt. I think this pic has a fair bit of Evans in it.

There is no "reason" in luxury items. These figs are luxury items. Simple as that.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

because your wrong. Im sick of people accusing HTs of something they know nothing about. You should go try an manufacture a 1/6 scale figure from a famous movie star and Hollywood movie, lets see what your numbers are at. Why do you think guys like KatoE charge $1000 for a Joker suit?

Funny, last year they had no problem at all making a figure and charging ~$160 for it. Now pretty much every figure announced is atleast $200-$220. More for DX. Where exactly is that difference coming from if not price hiking?

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

This is a forum to talk about toys. If no one expressed their opinion about these toys, whether it's price, quality, accuracy or what have you, there'd be no need to be here. Price, whether you want to hear it or not, is a hot button topic with HT, and really any of these products. It's unrealistic to expect people to be quiet about it, no matter how ridiculous, hypocritical, or hyperbolic they may seem.

Anyways, just as you can quietly not buy a product you can't afford or don't want to pay the price of, you could also quietly ignore the folks irritating you with their complaints. Then again, what would be the point of having this board otherwise, right? ;)

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

There are legitimate quality versus cost complaints. Wouldn't you rather pay almost $300 for something that looks unmistakeably like the actor it is supposed to represent instead of this?

If it's only a "close" resemblance that is acceptable for that kind of money you are better off being satisfied buying figures that cost half as much like this:

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I think Ht go up the price because they know people willig pay high price for it. This is the reason they re-release the same figures, but for collector like me won't be happy because there is no limited for those figures.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Anyone posted any HQ pics yet?

I figured because fools would pay it :lol

As for the rest of your post, the point he was making is they did all that already and didn't charge as much. so why now charge more, what's the reason?

Ok, who did you make? And how many? And whoever you made you did not get it officially licensed from say Marvel or DC. Call up Marvel and DC and see what the costs are to obtain an official license.

Once again, this was not an issue last year. Hot Toys already made a Captain America figure. And it could be had for around $150.

Every apologist always brushes away the price increases as "well this is a special case where the licence was more expensive". Which admittedly for a few licences such as Star Wars is true. But now it seems like every single figure has become a "special" case.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I don't think we'll ever know what the licensing costs each company has to pay for each IP.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I think the figure looks fine, not exact but not much different than the Avengers version. I love the look and I have plenty of HT/SSC figures that represent the character more than the likeness of the actor. Bought and I can't wait it until it ships although some of the complaints in here have made for good reading. :lol

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

well it was a choice between sideshow premium formats or HT and enterbay, cant get them all, decided in favour of pfs,
i love their iron man, pred figures, but the human figures like sup, im kinda dissapointed ,when i got a second chris reeves something just clicked and i lost all interest in ht apart from the iron man, terminator fig, will complete them as well the dark knight,
but i might continue my interest in the vehicle line as well as cyborg , robot fig like iron man, im getting the 3a real steel line as well,
like i said the human figures suddenly felt like overpriced dolls, to me , the enterbay t800 was the last straw, i cant justify that price

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

What we're really dealing with on price is the fact that some of us are being priced out of HT products. And it sucks because they're still the king of 1/6.

We want something and cant afford it. A thinning of the herd.

IS that Aragorn?

TBH I think in certain angles this looks more like Evans than the FA Cap. It;'s all subjective and alot of it is based on artistic interprestation.
