Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Man I really wanted this figure but Im starting to come to the realization that when you've got kids and bills and a mortgage $200+ is just waaaay too much for a toy no matter how cool. Stoopid adult reponsibilities!!!

If you've never spent $200 on something stupid I feel sorry for you because it's a blast !!!:hi5:

Nah, it's actually a good investment when you really think about. Whenever I feel bad about how much I am spending I just think of all the other things I could be doing or buying that would truly be a waste of money... booze, clubs, smokes, drugs, etc. I wouldn't believe how much some people will spend on a saturday night! Sometimes I might feel guilty but the majority of people out there have hobbies or needs in which the spend a lot of money on. My girlfriend has more $200 dolars shoes or her closet that I have action figures on display. A photography hobby will cost a person tens of thousands of dollars (even more). Most sporting equipment, also expensive... do you know much one round of Golf could cost you?

Suddenly, I feel a lot better about spending money on this figures. :hi5:

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

This is true. Just eating out at a nice restaurant can easily be $100 bill.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Ordered. The likness may not be as perfect as the Avengers version, but it's still definitely Evans. Also, the whole retro WW2 vibe meets comic book camp, makes for an awesome figure. Plus release in two weeks. :yess:

Speaking of which, which do You guys prefer: a sudden reveal followed by an immediate, fast release, or the standard period of months of hype, speculation and soul-draining wait? I must say I really like the notion of getting the figures, right after I see the first specs. Though it's probably not good for Sideshow buisness model, since the period of wait is good for building up hype before the release, not to mention the chance to get feedback from people, before the figure hits mass production.

Thats all so true. I played gold every Sunday for 10 years with my friends. I started buying 1/6 Sideshow, DC Direct and Medicom figures about 4 years ago. @ 2 1/ It started with a $20 DC Direct Joker. @ 2 1/2 years ago, I hurt my back and had to stop playing golf. Thats almost exactly when I discovered HOT TOYS and decided to go all in. I was spending @ $75-$100 a week on golf. Now, 200 Sideshow, DC Direct and Medicom 1/6 figures amd 34 Hot Toys later, I have something to show for that $100 a week.

There is one, and one only, reason where I can say I'm glad my other half smokes. If she challenges me over a new toy I've gotten I can hold my expensive addiction up to hers and say - 'least I have something to show for mine'....plus in the long run hers is probably more expensive. Smoking in Ireland costs a lot of money these days. Her cigarettes cost Euros 9.10 = $11 (at the moment - I thought the dollar amount would be higher to give my point more dramatic oomph :lol) and she must smoke at least 20 a day. So I spend my money in lump sums every 2-3 months and she spends her money in smaller increments every week. While I've never worked it out specifically I think that probably makes us even. :dunno

That said I am cutting down by necessity and resisting a lot of temptations. I want to be able to guarantee that I can get my 'Must-haves' so I have to reduce or cut out my 'Would like to have in the meantimes'

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I´m just so happy this figure will be released soon... Really think the likeness is good, at least with the helmet on, and I never actually think in show him either way...

This is the best HT figure for me, at least at this point...

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Agreed. I'm a sucker for WWII and Comic Book Heroes so this dolly is a must-have!

I'd like them released fast for obvious reasons, but if you go look through the Enterbay Men In Black figure thread, you can see the negative side of something being announced and then released very quickly, lot's of QC issues

of course that depends on exactly how long these figures have been sitting in a wharehouse waiting to be shipped, they may have been made sometime ago and not in a short rushed space of time to pump them out

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I receive the Enterbay MIB figures already here in Brazil, and they arrived just fine... You´ll well aware that here anythng could take proportions way huge thant they really are, and that thread seems to me more like a collective hysteria then anything else...

And I receive the shipping quote from sideshow, U$ 67,00. So this is costing me $ 285,00... Plus Taxes, as I know Sideshow won´t declare this for a low value, like other fellow sellers do on ebay...

I was a little bit worried for this, you see, as everybody is complaining about prices this days...

Then I try to look on ebay for a better option and they are asking at least $ 350,00 for this little guy.

WTF???

I´ll keep my order on Sideshow and get ready to pay at least another US$ 160,00 on taxes when Cap´s arrive here...

He´ll cost me more than a Bat-Pod, damm!

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Reminds me of the classic comeback.

"who you calling' boy? Would you call an alligator a lizard? Now GTFO

Of course not. It'd be taxonomic nonsense. They're not even closely related. It'd be like calling you a spiny anteater.

I do the same thing. I work overtime from time to time to support my habit.

I was also quite lucky with my MIB figures, just the loose knees, but I can't agree that it's entirely hysteria, many folk have listed the same problems and even shown pictures to illustrate the problems

this is all down to pure QC as a result of a rush job to get the product out on time, but like i said, HT will have put these guys together earlier most likely

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I see all the complaining over there... I agreed with the knees joints, but even Enterbay advised earlier that they discovered the problem.

Then you see a lot of complaining for all kind of things, some seemed legit, some not...

I even see people saying they keeping the figures but opening Paypall issues, I mean... WTF, dude?

Anyway, here is not the place to discuss Enterbay, just keep waiting for my USO Cap to arrive...

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I know the feeling all to well... It's worth it though. IMO.

When spending too much on HT crosses my mind, I simply pull up the trade/sale threads here or on other forums and search on ebay to see what I am buying is worth. Then I discover that they could easily be sold for at least what I paid for them, in most cases much more. Then I'm ok with all my pre-orders. Kinda like a savings account that satifies my inner child and gives me great display items to see every day!:wave

But thats just how I feel!:lol

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

:rotfl @ all the arguements for spending the very high price of $220 +++ on this figure. (mine will cost me $285 USD including the pack-out, increased shipping, Fex Ex B.S. handling fee and import tax)

Nevertheless, these are the very same arguements made to my spouse:

She smokes, I don't.
I don't do drugs.
My girls on the side are 1:6 scale (don't read too much into this statement please:monkey1)
I work long hours to bring home the bacon, and don't b#Tch about it.
I'm happy collecting.

nuff said, now how can I justify forking out $300 on the Tron Light Cycle, o-yeah I sold off some comics last Sunday at a local comic show and made $600 profit :rotfl

just funding my addiction:yess:
