Taking this statement into account, i have mixed feelings. Good news is HT and SSC will create a complementary mix of 1:6 (and 1:4). bad news is we'll most probably be overwhelmed with Star Wars pre orders sooner than later and be forced to make heartbreaking décisions on what to get and what to leave behind.

:exactly: :gah:

I think Abrams is very capable of giving us cutesy crap. Especially if Disney's in his ear/on his back.

Oh god, I know he is. It's going to ooze out in the first episode. But Star Wars always had that stuff. I just hope they do it simply and move on. Star Wars has also always been about quickly moving on.

So you wouldn't get a Stormtrooper because it is not a specific character?

I put ONE storm trooper on the 13 "list."

1.Luke
2.Han
3.Obi
4.Leia
5.Chewie
6.C3PO
7.R2D2
8.Vader
9.Yoda
10.Lando
11.Fett
12.Emperor
13.the Srormtrooper
14.Yabba (but a 1/6 would be too big)

I could include an Ewok...but most people want to forget those :lol

Anyone hoping HT gives us an Indy 2.0 now they're closer to Ford?

I would count Tarkin -- he was the other key villain in STAR WARS -- and back in the day his presence added to the movie and he, along with Alec, gave a certain credibility to an otherwise difficult to explain picture.

I say, let them keep trying with Han Solo until they get it right. There are multiple versions of Solo they can do to practice, and most hardcore SW will buy them, but there's only ONE Indy, with ONE costume, so IF they make another one, they should get it right. So let them practice on Solo for a while.

It's funny, because he (Tarkin) was in charge, not Vader. Tarkin was second in command after the Emperor, am I right? Yet, Vader got all the attention :lol

Tarkin was technically No. 2, but Vader was the Emperor's protege. Yet Leia said Vader was on Tarkin's leash, so... :dunno

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

If you watch, Vader starts out as just a dog-o-war henchman for, seemingly, Tarkin... but as the movie progresses you begin to realize that Vader is actually the smart one. The "this had better work" scene shows this. Vader has the tricky plan -- the switch, to let the heroes think they got away. Even Tarkin looks concerned about how he'll be perceived if Vader's plan actually works.

Vader: smart AND powerful. That's why we all love him.

That's also why I like ANH Vader best. Before he got muddled by his family ties.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

If it hadn't worked, I bet Tarkin would have paddled Vader.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

:lol

Still, Vader had to go to the Emperor and explain that the hell happened to their 20 year project.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

Vader's got all those Force powers, yet we saw him defer to Tarkin during the choke scene. He's a company man, but he's got his eyes on the top prize. And in the end, Tarkin's essentially a Nazi stooge. An officious stooge, but a stooge nonetheless.

And every time I hear "dog of war," I'm reminded of this:

He's "holding" Vader's leash. Vader wants to kill-kill-kill! Like a rabid dog. It's Tarkin that holds him back from being total death. See, Tarkin's a nice old man after all.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

Vader was like an SS officer in the first film. He was basically Tarkin's *****.

He had to go out there and fly with grunts to defend the Death Star. Vader wasn't hardcore until Empire.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

Vader's like an office manager in ANH. Underneath his shiny, black armor, he's wearing an ill-fitting, short-sleeved shirt and a clip-on tie. Wait a sec, I think I ripped off Mel Brooks.

What!?

He wanted to go out a fly with the grunts. He even had his own special TIE. He was smart again -- get off that damn thing before it blows.

In Empire he got shined up, lazy -- eating in his chamber, choking officers for silly offenses -- only when he got active and personal in Cloud City did he get cool again. Even though he had a sit-down dinner with Han and the gang.

Ever wonder what they talked about?
