Thx. Trying to keep track of the collectibles i own(ed). This is just one of a few I created. It helped me avoid buying duplicates when on the hunt.

I'm wondering if they are going to focus on the new characters in episode 7 rather than the originals. I personally don't know if I'm going to want figures of old Luke, Han and Leia lol.

You will if the movie is good!

Total speculation but I'm betting that Episode VII is going to be sort of a passing of the torch and will probably feature the original cast pretty prominently but will also showcase the new cast. The sequels will probably still have the original cast but I bet they focus more on the new cast.

You're probably right there.

Star Wars will always be the original cast for me. Tbh I haven't really been following who is in the new movies lol.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

Passing torch, yes. Original cast in this and the sequels? No. Maybe Old Luke as a ghost in VIII and IX.

I think they just want to bring back the good ol' feeling everyone once had for Star Wars by throwing this reunion movie. It also means cash! By Episode VIII people will be sick of OT all over again.... and then they'll start to pry open the old PT vault. Likely when Episode VIII explores the Sith we'll get back to the PT. Believe me, it won't be left behind for too long. But it will be marginalized.

If Luke, Leia and Han are the most memorable part of VII, wesa gonna be in trouble.

Ain't it the truth. I'm actually disappointed they are all in it. Bad sign.

But its great for the toys.

Meh I disagree. I think its pretty damn cool they're coming back. I'm getting a lot of positive vibes from Episode VII so far and am actually really stoked to see it, which after a long period of indifference towards the franchise (due in large part to George Lucas' never ending tinkering to fulfill his "artistic vision" or whatever bs he spews) I didn't think I'd find myself saying. I think Abrams has a good grasp on trying to give fans what they want rather than being selfish and serving only himself like Lucas. I think bringing Luke, Han, and Leia back into play to re-start the franchise is a good move. I think they'll mostly be in Episode VII (except possibly Luke) and may still show up in Episodes VIII and IX but not as prominently.

We'll soon see if it works or not.

Wasn't a good idea to bring Marion back in Indy IV. I see this as the same move.

Marion wasn't the problem with that film. George Lucas' influence is all over that film and let's face it as talented as he may have once been he's had a pretty crappy track record for a long time.

I agree. Marion was a small mistake in a much larger mess. But again, I was just using it as an example that fit our discussion.

I even dare to say that Shiah Labeoff isn't even the worst problem that movie had. I just watched it recently. The story has no edge to it. There were some Indy moments here and there but they all sucked in comparison. I understand that when you watch a movie that you have to suspend your disbelief.... but this movie made that impossible. The fridge scene? come on

Yeah, I still say they should have said that Leia died sometime between Episode VI and VII. She would have gone out of the saga with dignity and Han could be an old William Munny type ready to kick some ass one last time.

I think my south park image got deleted haha.

But anyways.... I do not like what Lucas and Spielberg did to indy. I am hoping that with Star Wars in Disney's custody that they will not go the cheesy route that Indy 4 did. I have even been impressed with their treatment of Rebels so far.

I wouldn't panic about Luke, Leia and Han being the main characters for Ep VII. I personally think it's the perfect way to maintain continuity and pass the torch. Also JJ Abrams is much better at directing actors than Lucas who seemed to be more interested in playing with "toys" i.e. CGI and creature design, rather than telling compelling stories with solid performances. That's why the set pieces, creature design and art direction look cool, but the actors and story are flat. I think Abrams is going to make those actors look great (particularly Ford who has the most talent of the trio, which is why the movie is centered around him). I was glad to see JJ get the nod because I think he's a "student" of that wide-eyed movie-making of the 80s that Spielberg and Lucas were great at in their prime. And that's what the franchise needs rather than someone doing a "new take" on Star Wars. If you look at some of Lucas's interviews during the prequel he pretty much acknowledges that he's not good at directing actors and making the films was more of a chore for him than a passion. He also took a lot of the fan backlash personally. So I think he's relieved to be out of the game.

Speaking of passing the torch, check out the prophetic interview Mark Hamill did back in 1983 wherein he said Lucas talked to him about reprising the role wherein he would be an Obi-Wan type character and they'd probably shoot it around 2011
