Better do it, it won't be around long now with HK Aug. release.

Two people are arguing in my head, one likes Star Wars and the other likes Age of Ultron. :lol

So many cool figures to grab, since this is an exclusive this might have to take priority.

I kinda figured this would be out soon. Good thing I waited to order, got enough stuff order in the next months as it is.

That is one fine HD though.

In time Age of Ultron will pass like a rash. SW is forever :lol

:lol:lol

I dare you to post that in the Marvel section. :lol :panic:

Already beat him to it. I'm Marvel and SW fan, So i asked something like will any of these be as popular in 30 years as SW. It was a fun talk, i was not attacked. The Marvel section is laid back, total opposite of the DC section :lol

It's true :lecture We'll see if people are still talking about any of those movies 38 years later.

Probably not, but many Marvel characters (particularly the Amazing Spider-Man) appear to be timeless, given they predate Star Wars.

We'll see what Disney does with Star Wars now, but in my mind there is a big difference between for example Star Wars and the flavor-of-the-month type deals like the Marvel movies. The Marvel characters themselves are plenty iconic, but since every producer/director/writer who has no idea about the history and continuity of a character still knows exactly what's wrong with the stuff that's been working just fine for the last 40 or so years and can't stop themselves from "fixing" it. Then the equally idiotic current comic writers/editors change the comics after the movies and then another movie comes along that changes everything up again...

Sure the PT and the SE's happened, but it didn't destroy the old movies anyway, too much history had passed. Much like the comic icon Spider-Man isn't destroyed by the lousy movies and at times lousy comics. Spider-Man was pretty consistent and coherent to himself and the rest of the Marvel universe up until the 90's at least. There is too much history there and comics used to be much more consistent than they are now so any character old enough has had 20-30-40-50 years of pretty coherent continuity. That makes it easier to look past the ****** current stuff.

Every other superhero movie is a reboot. How much will anyone care for the current movie crop when in 20 years there will have been at least a couple of different retellings of basically the same story?

There is a definate risk that Star Wars will be dragged down to this level too of course, but it hasn't happened yet and as a movie franchise it's older than most of the superheroes.

So glad it's a HK August release now. (probably pics in the next few weeks then)

I think they might be. So far they have created 12 interlocking movies in a way that I doubt will be ever completely be rebooted as a whole as a series of movies. I grew up with SW and passed it on to my kids, and I can imagine passing both SW and the MCU on to my grandchildren.

As for the longevity of the figures when it comes to these high end 1/6 figures I try to only collect the most iconic characters and the most iconic versions. When it comes to the MCU figures that means I have collected the ones that remind most of the comics. You can't argue that these Marvel characters havent stood the test of time. I have a Spider-Man (Rami version), Wolverine, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor from the MCU that look enough like their comic book versions there is no doubt that in 40 years people would recognize who they are even if they haven't seen the MCU movies.

When it comes to Star Wars, my 1/6 collection includes Hot Toys Besipin Luke (my favorite), SS R2D2, (I plan to get SS C3P0), the second Sideshow Vader, SS Boba Fett, sideshow Luke, Leia, and Han from ANH (which I plan to upgrade at least Luke and Han with HT), a SS Obi-Wan Kenobi and a Sideshow Ceremonial Luke customized with the ANH farm boy head. I was tempted to pick up the SS Hoth Luke and Han but resisted because the ANH Han is the most iconic. Luke will be the only repeats I plan on getting as I will happily pick up a ROTJ Luke from HT when they make one to go with my ANH Luke and Bespin Luke. I may also pick up whatever Luke is put out to go with Episode 7, we'll see.

Now, for why I am looking at this thread. I don't think I plan on getting the Stormtrooper Luke for itself, because it's to specialized for me and I have to draw the line someplace. But I will be looking for a new head to upgrade my ceremonial Luke figure and the sculpt looks nice in the promo pics of the Stormtrooper Luke. Does anyone know if it is the same sculpt from the ANH Luke or is uniquely its own? Anyway, I am either going to get this for the head and make a regular Stormtrooper out of it or get a duplicate of the HT ANH Luke so I can just redress the HT body with the SS Ceremonial Luke clothes. I haven't decided yet and thought I would wait till they shipped and people had them in hand before determining which way was best.
