[...]You can't argue that these Marvel characters havent stood the test of time. I have a Spider-Man (Rami version), Wolverine, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor from the MCU that look enough like their comic book versions there is no doubt that in 40 years people would recognize who they are even if they haven't seen the MCU movies. [...]

Undoubtedly. The characters are iconic, but also atemporal...over the decades they've been updated to fit into their contemporary milieu. So while the characters will likely persist, the films may not because they're a product of their time in a way that the OT is not, given that it's a fantasy far removed from "real life".

With that said, I've met a few people who barely know who Darth Vader is, so let's not forget we're a bunch of stone cold nerds up in here. ;)

When it comes to Star Wars, my 1/6 collection includes Hot Toys Besipin Luke (my favorite), SS R2D2, (I plan to get SS C3P0), the second Sideshow Vader, SS Boba Fett, sideshow Luke, Leia, and Han from ANH (which I plan to upgrade at least Luke and Han with HT), a SS Obi-Wan Kenobi and a Sideshow Ceremonial Luke customized with the ANH farm boy head.

Hold on a second. You don't to upgrade to the HT Leia figure? That head sculpt is glorious!:lecture

I don't think I plan on getting the Stormtrooper Luke for itself, because it's to specialized for me and I have to draw the line someplace. But I will be looking for a new head to upgrade my ceremonial Luke figure and the sculpt looks nice in the promo pics of the Stormtrooper Luke. Does anyone know if it is the same sculpt from the ANH Luke or is uniquely its own? Anyway, I am either going to get this for the head and make a regular Stormtrooper out of it or get a duplicate of the HT ANH Luke so I can just redress the HT body with the SS Ceremonial Luke clothes. I haven't decided yet and thought I would wait till they shipped and people had them in hand before determining which way was best.

Regards to the Luke head on this figure, this looks to be the same one as the regular Tatooine version, with the eyes looking off to the side a tiny bit (whereas Tatooine is looking straight ahead). Probably a good idea to plan the upgrade with this head and get a regular short stormie out of the deal (the head/helmet are listed as interchangeable). Hopefully that's truly the case.

Supposedly Luke Stormtrooper is slated for a release this month in HK--and as it's a toyfair exclusive it could sell out quicker than normal, but that's not always the case.

I get that, ironically my HT MCU characters are displayed next to collected volumes of comicbooks that span mostly from the 60's through the 80s with only a few modern comic collections sprinkled in. These characters have always tried to exist "now", but I actually appreciate revisiting each version of these characters in the various contexts of the times various stories have been told. Yea, the MCU versions will reflect the times in which they interpreted the characters too. I'm ok with that because it's just part of the world of comic books. That said my HT Avengers Hulk with the ripped purple pants or my HT Spiderman from the Sam Rami movies look pretty classic, and my AOU Cap, Mark III Iron Man, and AOU Thor (on preorder) don't look too far off from their classic counterparts though clearly modernized. I think I'll be happy with these versions even after these characters have been rebooted a bunch more times. For instance in the world of DC comics I am happy with my Christopher Reeve Superman even though there is a newer and sleeker Man of Steel around and will be more versions to come for sure ;) That's the only live action Superman for me as he is proudly displayed next to classic Superman comics. :)

:rotfl yup, we sure are, you can't come into my office without realizing that :) It's all good and all part of the fun :lol

I know, I know... The HT pics of Leia sure are gorgeous. It comes down $$$. I am sure when people start getting it in hand it will be even harder to resist, I may also have trouble resisting after SS Leia is standing next to a new HT Luke and Han. It's hard with these all coming out at once.

Oh cool, so it's not like the helmet goes over the head, but the Luke head and trooper head are interchangeable? That would work out great for my purpose. Now the question will be is how easy is it to put the HT head on an old SS body?

^^Yeah, just teasing. I just know that for the moment Leia's the one human figure I'm definitely sold on. I pre-ordered the Luke Stormtrooper for similar reasons though, thought it would be nice to have the extra Luke head sculpt, really like the interior detail on the helmet for when I do display it as Luke, and like the different belt.

One thing is they say interchangeable head/helmet but we haven't seen a photo showing the helmet on yet, and as mentioned there is very nice detail on the inside of the helmet so it seems clear that it will not go over the Luke head due to damage to the sculpt or the helmet detailing, so it's just a question of whether there will be some sort of neck adapter. If it truly is coming out this month we'll know very soon.

This or a regular Stormtrooper? If I get this and cannot put the helmet on I would be gutted.

Do you think no Han trooper announcement is the reason he us still available? I have ssc Luke and Han trooper 2 pack already. For me, no Han had kept me on the fence for pulling the trigger on him.

He was maybe made in bigger quantities. The spacetrooper was a Celebration exclusive and that's still available. Wasn't Bank Robber Joker a toy fair exclusive too? I remember him being around for a while, getting some small discounts too.

Joker was a toy Fair exclusive. Never got him since I had 1.0. With so much coming out, could not justify getting 2.0 since I have 1.0 already. Discounts were not big enough for me to pull trigger.

He'll be gone in a bit, never to be had for normal prices again. I remember the Superman III figure was around for a month or two and then gone for high ebay prices. But yeah, once Han is announced im sure that will quicken things. I foresee some people waiting too long and regretting it.

***First post**** I wonder if his hair will be removable like it is on the Han figure. So the helmet will fit.

Hi Denver, and welcome to freaks r us...lol...And I don't care how HT does it, as long as the helmet does fit on the figure...Im looking forward to this one...:)

Hopefully they just give the helmeted sculpt as well (with skin underneath like you see when Luke shuts the blast door)! I mean come on, how easy is it just to give us another head sculpt! Otherwise it'll be some sort of neck adapter, but more likely nothing...

More about priorities, if Han, Chewie, Vader, Kenobi and maybe even Leia are all coming out, and Scout/3P0 if you haven't got one by the end of the year it'll be tough to get them all. That's already one a month till the end of the year (also possibly trying to get them all out before the TFA rush slows it down too). More so if you're into their Avengers, or other lines. With so much selection, and such higher prices to yesteryear, we are getting very selective. I'm sure everyone wants him, and pretty sure there will be a much larger run than other exclusives. I think Midas gave them a heads up how they could figure things out. For me it's backlogged about 10th on my want list.

What sucked is that I'm not US, and buy from Hong Kong/China, and anything from the states costs a good $40-140 more (and I get taxed more coming from the states). But lately all you guys from America have been impatient and buying all the first released stocks, and pumping up prices before they are even shipped and I have to resort to US if I really want it. Really screwed me when the Stormies also came months early and as a two pack! We kinda set these high prices, lol.
