Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Surely HT can do way better, but I can't be so harsh on the SSC Stormies. With a little care on the armor they are decent figures, IMHO.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

The sideshow Stormtroopers were made by hot toys right? Because on my sideshow box there is the Hot Toys logo.
So the future Stormtrooper by hot toys won't be different...

Very true! Hense ss why the helmets on the prototypes look like SS versions to my eyes.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

If I understood it correctly, HT helped SSC develop the stormtroopers body; not the armor.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

I've heard multiple stories, but this is the only official info I've ever seen.

And that was 6 years ago. Even if it was HT by itself, I expect vast improvement. They already look tons better.

No, they look great, mostly. If they hold a pose, excellent. But every time you pick it up, the armor scatters, twists, flips around. It takes some resetting every time.

I expect HT to have not-so-brittle armor and armor that fits more tightly. At least I hope.

Do you mean "not so rigid?" The stuff on the SSC figures is rigid, but it's not brittle. I have no idea why SSC didn't include a little underpad to tighten up the armor fitment.

Rigid then. Better word.

If you watch the film, you can imagine the tactile feel of the armor -- and it looks like HT got it right this time, and the old SS troopers did not. The armor never looked that 'rigid' in the movies.

That's my hope as well... overall the Sideshow stormtroopers are decent, but they need a lot of adjusting to look right and Sideshow didn't sort out the looseness issues until after they Stormtroopers were released.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Well, I only have the Orange Sandies and Commander Cody and in both cases the armor is loosey-goosey and difficult to keep in place. Maybe with the 100+ clones they made they improved the looseness. Still rigid plastic though.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Those SSC Stormtroopers look damn ugly in that pic, they were never cool, but that is failtacular. What happened to their helmets, did they pass through a wormhole? :slap Or it's just the photo and some lens distortion?

The figures aren't that great to begin with and a phone camera doesn't do them any favors either.

Almost every photo posted here has some sort of distortion due to the crappy phones. But I will take bad phone pictures every time if the choice is no pictures at all.

I guess it is indeed lens distortion due to phone pics.

Re: Hot Toys Stormtrooper.

Complaints about the ssc stormiest
Head on the helmet is just plain wrong, 3/4 view looks great so that's how I try to display them, yeah small groin armour, base body hip placement puts the thighs to far forward and to far apart and the lower leg armour is rather shapeless.

The ht samples look great with none of those issues, taller guy looks almost perfect to me, gimme gimme gimme
