I know I've watched the OT far more times than citizen kane, so I'll say this is personal preference. Couldn't think of what to accurately say the PT is greater than.

Crystal Skull.

As much as I hate the PT il admit that they have a few cool elements. Darth Maul, the score, a couple of the ship designs, and the basic framework for an ok story.

Crystal skull is basically unwatchable for me.

Yeah I always thought maul was awesome, wished they'd kept him alive and used him throughout instead of dooku--both for continuity and he was a much cooler looking villain. Imagine if him and vader fought side by side in the third movie. I thought about putting crystal skull actually or batman and robin there. I'll never forgive those flying monkeys.

I feel like the PT would have worked better with just Maul being the Big Baddie right up until the end; taken out by Anakin/Vader.

Nothing about Dooku or Grievous did anything for me and Maul was a wasted opportunity with a Boba Death[TM]*.

*Boba Death[TM]: scenario wherein a character with great presence and competence, demonstrated and/or implied, suffers an ignominious and nonsensical demise incongruous with their aforementioned implicit or demonstrable status up to that point.

e.g.:

"Did you see how he got taken out? Total Boba Death[TM]."

Maul is popular only because he barely speaks, has little screen time and does nothing but fight. If you gave him three movies to cover, people would be ripping him apart.

:rotfl

Well you can always start with Baby Maul and work up!

True but the result is disposable villains in each movie. Also you forgot that he rides a motorcycle and wears leather. Obi-wan finally killing maul might have been more meaningful after two movies rather than two minutes after qui-gon dies.

$150 for the pair. $200 singles. $250 for the eventual Sandtrooper 3-pack.

Lol this is HT we are talking about $150 we cant get sideshow to do that lol. $299 maybe but not 150. and 225 per single not 200. Hot Toys wants money and lots of it.

they better make the plastic so it cant tarnish yellow.

Ditto. Make Maul a 3 movie villain with an all-around sort of personality (unmatched double blade master&charismatic separatist commander and maybe let him kick some Skywalker's ass inside a starfighter) and here's a PT Vader. :lol

Truth. Such is the nature of Star Wars fandom, but the PT is especially susceptible to nerd rage due to it's inherent flaws.

I take the space magic, cheesy dialogue, casual violence and relatively inept villains as axiomatic, but then I would like at least an attempt at a coherent narrative to help me suspend my disbelief. And this is where the PT failed; it crossed an event horizon and my suspension of disbelief couldn't escape that kind of gravity.

But to be honest, the first time I watched Phantom Menace I was just happy to see Star Wars on the big screen again; it's only later I found it and the rest unwatchable.

Anakin and Padme's dialogue and story arc in the latter two films, however...was the most cringe inducing...even in the theatre.

For these reasons and no doubt, childhood...I only lust after OT merchandise like these HT stormtroopers, which look to me like they'll *probably* be must-haves.

Imagine being the sound guy for that scene. Just snickering and biting your tongue every time George looked over.
