How do you feel about Hot Toys doing second runs of Vader, Chewie, Han and Obi-Wan?

These are the first figures that they did this with, I don't know why it would change any pre-order behavior. I would rather have the figures at retail when they come out over wondering if I can get them at retail 9 months after it looks like they've sold out.
They haven't re-released the regular Stormtrooper, but maybe new ones will come with Rogue One.

I really do not see what all the fuss is over "unless", whether you wish to admit it or not, you are collecting for financial reasons at one point or another.
Simply put, its good for the hobbyists who wish to have figures they missed, better for the company that produces them more so, which in turn keeps them healthy and profitable so they are able to continue making figures we want in the end.
More importantly I will not be surprised for you toy "investors" if there is not in fact a revision made to the product description or items available in the set in the end.

So will this change anyone preorder ideas? Normally I pre order because I believe a figure might sell out.....if i didn't have that worry I would always wait for in hand pics....

It shouldn't cause there is still absolutely zero evidence this is a new run. This is like watching foxnews. An opinion piece has been repeated so many times it's become "fact". I'm not saying this isn't a second run, just that we have no concrete evidence. Hot Toys was more than happy to advertise they did a second run of Kylo Ren's so why nothing from them for these figs?

No, that is incorrect...What bothers me is that Hot Toys is clearly manipulating a market that they already own. There is almost zero competition for them at 1/6 scale which allows them to do this. I don't buy for one second that they misjudged the demand for these iconic figures to this degree. They heard the complaints over the prices and sculpts and intentionally shorted the market. So now the same people who were complaining over prices and waffling over the sculpts are giddy to hand over their money.

This.......

One of the reasons I am willing to pay such a high price for a dolly is that they WERE limited release.

But they are not. And when you sell them no one is going to pay you anywhere near close to what you paid.

Invest in something else, maybe?

I find this doubtful...by the time pictures were released of Han & Chewie, regardless of peoples personal views on likeness, they were almost certainly in full production, where contracts for numbers would have already been established. Its Star Wars...it will sell regardless to a degree, as we have seen even with some of Sideshow's QC crap they have put forth.
Although food for thought in regards to your comments, I find this more on the lines of conspiracy theory.

In regards to Limited release, although never stated by Hot Toys, the only notion of a limited release is the "value" it gains by being Limited or rare, that intrinsic value, what ever you wish to call it ,stems from an economical point. However you want to cut it!

To say the cost of an item , in particular these figures, is not worth what they are asking if not a Limited release makes no sense.
Price point in the market is set by the buyers...what people are willing to pay...heck even toys R us is putting out the large 12" ish star wars animatronic figures for $180.00 here in Canada. Look simply how the 1/6th market pricing has jumped in the last 10 years.

This is my humble opinion...:wink1:

Will they make Chewie from The Force Awakens? That Chewie seem nicer looking. Star-Wars-Chewie.jpg

I'm just happy I'm able to have a collection of hot toys dollies on my shelf, couldn't care less if they produce more personally - crank em out HT!

If their dollar value fluctuations was something that I have to worry about, then that would tell me I probably cant truly afford this luxury.

if they don't produce with better quality, it's a good thing. anyone may get them with release prices. We're collectors, not stores. I support this idea.

I've heard rumours that improvements will be made to the darth vader release? Any confirmation of this?

I don't get that base. Shouldn't have been weathered either. What's the point of combining all of them when every single one is different!

Personally, I don't really look this much into it. I collect these figures because I enjoy the films and the characters, and these figures have some of the best likenesses and details that I've ever seen on a collectible. If there's a figure I like and I feel it's worth a particular price to me, even retail, I get it. If the price curtails later on, I don't beat myself up over it because at the time I got it, it was worth X amount of money to me, so enjoy it. If I'm not willing to even spend retail price on a figure that I can live without, I don't get it. If I see it later on at a low price, sure, perhaps I'll get it because it'd be cool to have. But it's not worth above X amount of money to me.

It's really that simple. Simply how much something is worth to me. The only person making the decision to buy these is myself. It's not like I'm being coerced.

I'm jumping on the opportunity with Han and Chewie because HT is releasing them again. Could I have gotten them on the after market because I missed them the first time at retail? Sure, but it wasn't worth $350+ to me, hence why I didn't get one. I probably never would have if they always remained that price and I would have had to just settle with that. However, they're being released again at retail, so I'm taking advantage of it. I personally don't think I'd pay over roughly $275 for a Solo. That's how much he's worth to me.

I mean to me it's not that hard; you like a figure, you get it if the price is worth it to you. If you don't like it, or you don't feel the price is worth it to you, you don't get it. Simple as that.

I think is it good for the market. I don't buy figures for reselling them. I'm glad everyone can own them. This hobby has gone out of hand. Ebay used to be the place to pick up something you missed for a good price. Nowadays you first have to sign that they will come to cut out your kidneys

Not sure about that...I've seen many HT figures that sold out and went on Ebay for lower or about the same as the retail prices. I just picked up Bank Robber Joker 2.0 for $240 shipped.

When I 1st got in to this game HT would be sold out within a month or so and went for crazy prices on the aftermarket...now the 1/6 is so over saturated you'll be lucky if you break even. Just sold 2 figures 100% complete with brown shipper on ebay about a month ago and took a lost about $30 on each one.

I find this whole thing very interesting.
First off I'm happy that I'm able to get these now as I missed out last year.

Secondly, people giving out about a second run and Hot Toys money grabbing and ruining the exclusivity of the figures.
Well we don't know what is in the contract between Disney and Hot Toys regarding the figures production size, Batch 1, 2, 3 etc.
I would imagine with Hot Toys opening a shop in DisneyTown in Shanghai that these figures will go on sale there and Disney would want these iconic characters from one of its hottest properties available to purchase there. They wouldn't want someone rocking in to the shop to buy Darth Vader only to be told "sorry, you should have purchased him last year, good bye" that's not going to happen. They want product on the shelves, so some figures will go back in to production. Batch sizes, who knows, it's easy and cost effective to fill back orders while producing a new batch for commitment's like this shop. Not everyone can afford to collect Hot Toys, it's an expensive hobby as we all know so not everyone would be will to pay hundreds of dollars, euros, pounds etc. for these. So the exclusivity of the figures really wouldn't be affected all that much, maybe a couple of thousand more on the world market but they wouldn't flood the market as the figures wouldn't sell and then they are left with stock sitting there tying up their overheads and warehouse space.

Any way they are my thoughts on this. Not getting in to an argument over this as we all know people feel very passionate about this.
Peace out!

I wouldn't expect anything to be different. It is jut a second run.

I would agree with this. If improvements are made, to me that's an entirely different/new figure, a 2.0 version per se; not a second run of an already existing figure. A second run of an already existing figure theoretically to me should be the exact same figure.
