Well, to defend Hot Toys a bit, from the figures I've gotten from them, they ONLY improve from product images and prototypes. First Blood Rambo head, (while some don't like it for different reasons) much better final to prototype, Rocky Balbo, phenominally better from proto to production, and even the Rambo 2 Rambo was a bit understated by it's proto images, and I don't have it in hand yet, but the Endo looks like it's proto images understate it's quality, so HT has a precedent of knocking out the park once the final is in hand, the only times it falls short really are when they walk the fine line with a license, such as Aliens where some of the humans are made to look off from the actor because they don't have the right but they know what the collectors want so it's a work around then the customizers here bring out the base, beautiful sculpt, but based on Sao, looks like they have likeness rights in the Pirates line.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to save my pennies for this one. I didn't really care about Medi-Jack, but this one is too good to pass on. Rats, I just wanted to stick to SW and LOTR. Good thing there are so few main characters in POTC that I care about.

Looking at the HT figure it is indeed (again) a matter of futzing, especially with the white shirt. It needs to be worn out, stretched and pulled down as though it's been at sea for years at a time. A good dip in some salt water, and a dry with some weight attached, should make it look absolutely beautiful, not to mention authentic. Then futz around with the rest of it and it should be perfect!

the proportions look akward on the HT jack.. the detail is better though.
I still like the medicom likeness more.

The medicom outfit clothes and accessories look very cheap compared to the HT version.

Medicom < Hot Toys all the way.

Medi-Jack is great, it's just not as lavishly embellished as the HT one. The quality is still excellent.

Agreed. Both are great Jacks and anyone would be lucky to have both in their collection. I don't think we have to be polarized. Each company has their strong points as well as weak ones.

I don't know, I'm pretty polarized. My disappointment with Medi Jack has only grown over time. I'm looking forward to replacing him with HT Jack.

I wouldn't say Hot Toys is better all the way, from the boots to the neck yes, but the fatness of the dreads and everything, the head is way out of wack except for a nice face sculpt, but his head is just wayyyyy to wide with the way they did his hair.

i really like medi-jack. the likeness isn't perfect but it's still pretty good. and the accessories are great. the pictures of the hot toys version are of prototypes as people have said, so we don't know if the end quality will be this good. the only thing i don't like about the hot toys version is the VERY serious face. the sculpt i think looks a lot like depp except for the weird mouth area.

currently though, i'll be getting the hot toys version over the medi rerelease.

i doubt there will ever be a serious medicom vs hot toys debate. they both make quality s@*t. i reckon most people who like medicom admire hot toys and vice versa. they're more comparable in terms of quality & price than SS and one of these companies.

(dunno man just find it real boring thats all,i liked the first one somewhat but the second one put me to sleep.I'll rent the 3rd one and see how i like that but my hopes are not high.
