Depp made Charlie a great film. People who didn't like it are just too stuck on the old one to accept it.

The only thing good about it was the kids, Depp played a middle aged lesbian from Minnesota who called himself Willy Wonka, cmon!

Depp and those rapping dwarves are what made me gag, the rest was actually ok.

Depss awesome, no doubt, I just think he makes some poor choices.

Being connected to the original? I hated it as a kid, but it's still better than that contrived junk. I can equally say than that anyone who liked the new Charlie only likes it because they're overly connected to an actor and director they loves (p.s. I have an Edward Scissorhands tattoo, I love Burton and Depp, but sometimes you just fall.)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Now back on track eh?

POTC Rules, this figure RULES, HT Rules! Let's all dance.

I hated the old Charlie. I really, really hated the old Charlie. I love the new one, despite the fact that I really really wanted to hate it. I like POTC2, but also liked SM3. In other words my friends, it's all subjective; nobody is in any position to say one thing is good and another is bad because it all depends on what you like. You can say this movie you like and that one you don't, but that doesn't mean somebody else isn't just as entitled to believe otherwise. Let's not get on each other when there's no basis for these arguments.

It looks, in this image, like the wrist wrapping will stop before the wrist joint, I hope so, one thing that got to me about Medicom wrists with Jack is not being able to bend the wrist in sword swinging poses, and you have to be able to get this pose, it's iconic.

Well for the die hard Jack fan, there is value to having both because over the 3 movies, Jack had 2 distinct wardrobes, and Medi is his POTC1 appearance, with HT capturing his POTC2 & 3 appearance. Who can get enough of Captain Jack :) Captain Morgan on the other hand....lol.

Quite a bold statement. I loved the new Charlie not because of Depp or Burton although watching it how could you not know it was a Burton film....but because it was truer to the source material than the Wilder film. Burton took some liberties with the book but his film was much much much closer to Dahl's classic than Stuart's attempt.

Back on Topic: The HT Jack will be much better than the MediCom version from the looks of it but they can surely coexist...but NOT as Medi as a POTC 1 version because its incorrect:

In POTC 1 Jack wore a Blue/Gray Jack and a few other small variations to the costuming that is not evident in this:

Still good but they'll have to co-exist as POTC 2/3 and POTC 2/3 figures respectively.

Medi Jack in hand IS POTC 1 Jack Sparrow, and nothing about it, other than wardrobe, is POTC2/3, there's only one belt, no paraphenilia hanging from his belt, the simpler buckle on his sword bandolier, deffinately all designed from POTC1, my guess is they didn't have access to POTC2 images when designing the figure.

seriously, what ever happened to just having a cool toy to display?

I don't know about others, but it's nost just about a cool toy for me, it's about fandom and love of the character and what he brings to the films, and there's a joy in the pursuit of an amazing representation of a character that brings great fun and escapism into my life.

Just pre-ordered mine from toys2.net!!

It says they're due in mid-July so if Sideshow doesn't have them within the next week or two I'd say they're probably not getting them in.

Just to let you freaks know they have Jack and Sao up for pre-order over at BBTS for a hefty $159. I'm still hopin SS pulls out for us.:D

Same for me. The figure has to at least be part of a film, book or some part of pop culture that I like otherwise the toy would be meaningless to me. I wouldn't ever buy a figure that was just fabricated out of the blue, no matter how cool it looked, that I couldn't relate to anything.
