Received my AU Mk IIs (partial) from Hong Kong...

Impressions: HT made (too) many compromises and short cuts. It's more of a prop... than an action figure.... the most immobile HT IM armor to date.

Example:
1.The entire Torso is (mostly) a 2 piece part. The pelvis does rotate though.
2. Limited leg twist @ the hips, inhibited by design, lap armor cover/internal parts
3. Though the single knee joint can bend 90 degrees, it partially inhibited by the lower leg, though I suspect can be adjusted.

It feels like a patch work of new and old parts, that does not work quite right... instead of a completely redesign as BD Mk.3 was to the first Mk.3.

AU MK.2 is good for 2 things.... Autopsy table & Hall of Armor display

Although with a tiny waist/abdomen BD Mk.3 can still achieve dynamic poses (for vs. Iron Monger):

I just called and tried to see if they would switch it to a different product since I though I had paid a deposit. SS said I never paid a deposit for this so she will just cancel it for me. Im looking at my credit card and it shows $112.25 and $43.45 charged by SS during that time. I looked at my order page and it doesnt show any deposits I paid under any item????

What was the deposit percentage they ask for? Thanks

Was thinking about this figure earlier and for a figure that I'm looking forward to getting so much my god am I going to put him in a boring pose :slap :lol

Wow . . . too damn bad. I always respect your input, bandito, so thanks for posting it. That's some disappointing news.

Could this re-hashed Mk. 2 mean that a Mk. 3 version 2.0 won't happen?

It sounds like the re-design was half-baked. I wonder how many new molds were actually created (between the '08 Mk. 2 and Mech Test boots).

What a cryin' shame . . .:monkey2

Depends on what you want though.

I am a statue collector and have recently gotten into the Hot Toys line. From my point of view, even though I know these are TOYS and poseable action figures, I am coming at them from the perspective of statue collector that enjoys museum and static poses.

I collect Hot Toys because of the accuracy of the likeness and the figure and wouldn't dream of posing them other than a few very minor ways such as Mech Test Tony in midflight for example.

My plan for this Iron Man would be only Hall of Armour static pose or Autopsy Table. In terms of sheer sculptural detail and accuracy which is why I love HT, this figure in my opinion is far superior to the original release with the exception of the unmasked portrait which features Don Cheadle instead of RDJ.

:exactly:

I started collecting with HT Jack Sparrow DX. The reason I got it was because of how accurate it is. It's a piece of art. All the figures I will be getting will based on that fact over how articulated they are. More articulation is a bonus. I find a pose then leave it there. These figures really are pieces of art and the Mark II I'm sure will be no different.

That has also been my rule ever since I started collecting HT :D
Superb likeness or forget it :exactly:

i think its like 5 - 10 percent for deposits

id call asap though and figure out what those charges were for... did you maybe purchase something on flex?

The lack of mobility is a moot point in the IM line's case. These dolls look awesome just standing there. Besides, OMG's pics are a clear proof that this new Mark II isn't condemned to lying on its back. Mark III is coming, bring it.

Have they said that?

Considering the only thing the Mark I needed was a HS worthy of the rest and HT still went ahead and re-visited it, you can bet a hefty sum of money that it will also re-visit the Mark III, which is in dire need of improvement.

I also collect considering first both accuracy and likeness.
But those who consider poseability first have a right not to like this figure.

Too bad for them. :)

This figure looks good. I already have the original mark 2. I don't know if I need two of them. Can someone show pics of both versions. I would like to see the difference in the paint job. Then I can make up my mind. Thanks.

I think in this case the difference in articulation is more a matter of the features than accuracy. The knee articulation at least is limited due to the swap out legs feature.

Check out OMG's incredible pictorial in the Reviews section. There's a pic in there showing the two Mark IIs and the Mark III side-by-side.

I cant wait to get this, I've always wanted a MK II. I'm just waiting for OSB to send me my final bill now, I guess I've still got bit of a wait though, I used to get billed about a little over a month from the Toy Hunters release but HT seem to take a lot longer getting there stock out of late, I guess it's due to the higher amount of figures they must be making now days. I still can't belive I'm finally getting a MK II & MK I :yess:
