Re: Iron Man 3

Whoopsies.
I didnt look to hard obviously, slacker that I am.:monkey3
Thats why mods get paid the big bucks, to clean up my messes.

This one needs to be good. I really think IM2 actually degrades upon repeated viewings. Whereas the first film just has a soft 3rd Act as its crutch, the 2nd movie is pretty sloppy from start to finish, with cool scenes thrown in the mix.

I enjoyed Leathel Weapon but that all I of know of the guy. I'm sure they will go with someone who can keep the ball rolling. As far as Iron Man 2 getting worse with each viewing. Not at all at least for me. Its as awesome now as it was when I saw it in the theater.

Didn't know he was a part of Predator. Love that movie of course. Never seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

He not only co-wrote PREDATOR, he played Hawkins, the guy with the glasses who makes all of the jokes about the size of womens' genitalia.

KISS KISS BANG BANG is an awesome flick. Great Downey performance, too.

If Shane Black gets signed to Iron Man 3 I will be over the moon. This the best news I've heard about the project for a while.

As much as I liked Jon Favreau I was not looking forward to IM3 featuring The Mandarin. I hope Shane Black chooses a better villain to feature.

I'd love to see Ultron. Far more high tech and a better match in tone for this series. If Ultron were to gain access to Jarvis you could feature Paul Bettany on screen.

Seriously? Mandarin is thee Iron Man villain. Period. Idk how you would fit him in context but He is the definitive villain.

Something tells me that they'd look to the animated series with an armored Mandarin whose powers are based on that instead of the magical, mythical version. IF Thor does really well and fans like it though, you could see Marvel push for the original Mandarin pushed in since audiences are willing to accept a mix of magic and science as would have been seen in The Avengers.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was hilarious. RDJ is great in it but Val Kilmer stole every scene he was in.

I really hope the rumor is true.

^ :lol :lol my favorite scene involved a pistol and someone's pants.

If it's Shane Black, at least we can be sure there'll be wicked humor in IM3, if Marvel would give him enough slack on the leash.

If you look at the humor in Shane Black's previous films, they are right up Tony Stark's aisle. Not to mention the action will be kicked up a notch. I am really hoping this rumor pans out.

There are some things that work well in comics that don't work well on a movie screen. There are too many things that would need to change to make The Mandarin work in the context of the Iron Man film series. I think there are numerous capable IM villains that could hit the ground running without spending half the film re-inventing their back-story. Just my opinion.

Even Favreau had concerns about making the magical aspects of The Madarin's character work. If Jon had stayed I would rather he had looked at the rest of the rogue's gallery than work with a baddie he wasn't comfortable with.

Looks like it's official:

Shane Black to direct Iron Man 3

EXCLUSIVE: The ever secretive Marvel Studios is in final negotiations with Shane Black to direct Iron Man 3 set to be released on May 3, 2013. As you know, IM1 and IM2 director Jon Favreau begged off to helm Magic Kingdom at Disney so his relationship with the franchise ran its course. Shane is first and foremost a writer but it's not clear whether he'll be penning the IM3 script as well. "That's not figured out," our source says.

Of course, everyone in and around Marvel is keeping mum. But Black has a long relationship with Robert Downey Jr since Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. Not only did Shane make his directing debut on the 2005 cult favorite he co-wrote, but it helped re-launch Downey Jr’s career. When news leaked out that Marvel was meeting with several directors including Shane, fanboys approved. So they should exult now that negotiations are wrapping up with Black's agency WME and manager David Greenblatt's GreenLit Creative. We recall the days way back when that unknown Black submitted a spec script over the transom to Greenblatt who was then a young ICM lit agent. Greenblatt in those days read scripts by wannabes and the two became an inseparable team that continues to this day. (For the uninitiated, Greenblatt was one of the founders of Endeavor, which is now WME.)

Black was the screenwriter behind Lethal Weapon 1 and 2 and The Last Boy Scout, and, in the 1980s and 1990s one of the highest paid writers in the action genre. He then decided to go have a life and segue into directing as well. Shane is back and busy now. He's working on Doc Savage, Sony's action project based on the classic pulp hero, and Warner Bros Warner Bros recently hired him to direct a live action adaptation of the Japanese manga series Death Note and oversee a script that’s being written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, his accomplices on Doc Savage. So let this be a lesson to all you agents who get so arrogant about out-of-the-blue submissions: read every wannabe's screenplay you can get your hands on.
